relic, what good is this device? why not ask HP , where if lucky , some one there can even remember that long ago. its 14 years old. has zero value , seen in garage sales for $1 and no buyers. why you? sorry but what good is it?> there is no service now. my advice? is to dump this and buy a used real cell phone for $5 and work on that, work on something with a future and not this device IPAQ anything. now here is real HP , this is not spam nor jackers or the like, its the REAL DEAL, the maker of you DEVICE. If this is a physical connection issue you can buy the adapter that you need to reduce or increase the size of the connection plug to match the connector socket on the back of your HP laptop. Your local Hi-Fi, or electronics store will be able to provide and sell you the adapter socket that you need for this particular application.

These devices are PDA's (pocket digital assistant's) in other words hand held computers they are not cell or mobile phones there is no provision for a sim card

Go to an HP shop and ask testing a new battery. It looks like your PDA's battery was slowly dieing and now it reached the end of its day. Replacing the battery will fix the problem most of the times.

Ufortunately, the battery is likely the culprit.
You can try removing the battery overnight, then leave on charger for at least 12 hours.

These batteries generally require replacement every 1-3 years. They deteriorate quite rapidly if left unused/uncharged for extended periods of time (like a year!)
