The Gx260 models are known for bad capacitors on the motherboard. if you open the case and look at the cylindrical capacitors you will see some that are bulged or oozing. If so you need to replace the motherboard. This is the most common cause for no video in this model pc. A video may also fix the problem, but eventually other caps will go bad and the machine will fail to boot.

You have to change the boot settings in bios (hit F2 as you see the Dell Logo) and in the boot menu look for one that says boot from USB, or external CD drive, and move it to the top of the list so it will boot before the hard drive does.

Respected Sir,

Download Windows 7 Drivers for Your DellDetermine if your computer is compatible with Windows 7.
See our Windows 7 Compatible Systems list to find out! Drivers for your Windows 7 operating system can be downloaded from the
Drivers and Downloads page on Dell's support website. For information on downloading and installing drivers for your Dell computer, refer to KB Article

It is possible the sound is turned off in the bios. As it boots hit F2, thus entering the bios, look for a section enabling onboard audio. If it is enabled already or doesnt have this option, after you boot check the device manager and make sure you have the drivers for the sound. You can go to www.support.dell.com and put in the desktop service tag (or model) and find the drivers for that unit. Look for the sound driver, download and install it. If that doesnt fix the problem see if sound comes out of the headphone jack in the front under plastic flip lid by the power button. If not there is a possibility your motherboard may be bad. These Dell small form factors have a tendancy to have bad capacitors on the motherboard. You can see them by opening the case and looking at the cylinders with the X on top on the motherboards. If any are bulging or popped (black brown crud oozing out) it could be what is causing the problem. Hope this helps.

Hi
You don't
say which Operating System you use, so my answer will be presented in general,
Windows XP terms that match the computer's original specifications. If yours is
a non-Windows Operating System and my answer seems to be of some relevance to
you, please consider applying the logic and principles involved here to your
own Operating System and, if in doubt, please feel free to add a Comment or

This fault
can have several causes.
This could
be a minor Bios Settings issue, such as a flat CMOS Battery (which can easily
be replaced), an incorrect IDE/RAID Setting or an incorrect Hard Drive Sequence
or Boot Device Setting. All of these can be rest by pressing F2 and entering
into BIOS Setup. However, inexperienced users must tread cautiously in BIOS
Setup, as certain settings changes in there can make it impossible for the
computer to boot at all.
Alternatively,
it might be a more serious matter such as a BIOS Corruption, a Boot Sector
Virus or an Operating System Corruption.
If pressing
F1 does not allow the system to Boot, then you should desist from pressing it
as this can lead to damage to the hard drive.
If it is not
a BIOS settings problem, try pressing the function key that gives you a Boot
Menu (often F3, F4, F5, F6, F7, F8 or F9) and which allows you to Boot into
Safe Mode. If this is successful:
Select Boot in Safe Mode with Networking > Enter > Start > All Programs > Accessories> System Tools > System Restore > Restore My Computer to an Earlier Time > Select a Highlighted Date in the Calendar on the left and an Event in the Schedule on the right that both precede the fault > Restore > Restart the computer.
If this does
not resolve the problem, Boot in Safe Mode With Networking again, then log onto
the internet and download Malware bytes from www.malwarebytes.org, and scan and
purge any infection found.
If this does
not resolve the problem, you will need to attempt a Repair Re-installation of
Windows XP, keeping the same files and settings as previously, by booting from
a bootable Operating System disc and then selecting the (2nd) repair Option
(immediately after the F8 Agreement Screen).
If no 2nd
Repair Option is available, you will need to back up any important data from
the hard drive to another computer or an external storage device and do a
complete fresh installation of the Operating System, Drivers, Utilities,
Applications and Security Programs.
I hope this helps.

Dell gx260 not booting
You will need to reset the BIOS/CMOS, by removing the mainboard battery for about a minute, then reinstall it in the correct orientation. Clean the RAM module with tissue paper and insert them one at a time alternatively. Ensure even pressure and correct orientation. The BIOS should normally beep once, this show all systems go and all teast are good.
Try starting up with no RAM does the BIOS beep at you?, it should!
Also disconnect all harddrives, as this will test to see if they are causing the problem.
Wishing you all the best.
