Cobra 200 GTL DX 4-Channels Base CB Radio Questions & Answers
200 GTL DX Night glow face plate.
Icepick , there are diode in the radio to allow the voltage to flow to get those lights glowing. If the voltage is not at a specific level then you may have the problem you are describing. make sure you have 13.8 volts of power coming into the radio then check you voltage on T712 to make sure the voltage is ok also IC 5 . Check diodes 68 , 69, 71,72 for correct voltage . now you need a voltage chart. You will have to google it .
Cobra 1000 gtl no output
does the radio turn on at all ? Do you have it on cb not pa? Is your RF GAIN opened all the way? Squelch turned all the to the left?Volume opened about 1/2 way it should be on .if not go inside radio and look for VR that is beside the modulation transformer and turn it all the way to the right . If you have no power put put then you will have to adjust the power out put coil . you will need the service manual and some equipment to check this out. Its going to get expensive but if you feel as though you can't do it then take it to a tech and let them get the headache.
My cobra 200gtl rev 2 cuts out on ssb after a few minutes
It sounds like the final transistor may be shorted/burned out. If you don't know how to locate or test the transistor you'll have to take it in to a tech. These transistors are usually quite cheap but as to the labour cost it depends on your tech. Usually what causes this damage is a bad antennae match or a bad antennae itself, even a shorted antennae cable. After you've repaired the radio check the antennae and cable first before connecting it up again, then check your match with an SWR meter. Good luck
Cobra 200 gtl dx only does 12 watts on high
Open radio up and adjust rv9for am fm high power or rv 14 for ssb for high power,do not use a screwdriver,a matchstick would be better.board information is available from cb tricks.com
Cobra 200gtl High Power Transmit problem??
Depending on the type of power supply, radio frequency (RF) energy from the transmitter may be 'fooling" it into thinking that you're overloading it. Check to see if there's any discernible dimming of the meter lamp when this problem occurs, if so, the supply is the culprit.
Otherwise, its probable that the final amplifier transistors are overheating, either they are 'leaky' or not properly attached to the heat sink.
Talkback on a cobra 200 gtl dx
This procedure is not as simple as just cutting a wire. Note that you can possibly mess your radio up if any maintenace is not done properly. I do suggest taking your radio to a proffesional to have the talkback removed, but, if you really want to do it yourself, go to ghe following link and basically reverse what has been done.

This is the service bulletin for the addition of talkback to the Cobra 150GTL DX and the Cobra 200GTL DX.
As long as the talkback was added correctly, this can be put back origional.
If this does or does not help, please reply on here or email me at
