Uniden PC78ELITE 40-Channels Base CB Radio Questions & Answers
Skipmaster desk mic to uniden
there is now waY YOU CAN CHANGE THE MIC INTO A RADIO. first,are you buying it new or used? second ,if tis new in the box then for a few dollars more have them wire it up.I can wire it butI prefer not to because it probably would be trial and error.The box it came in should have a schematic to tell you what wires go where .All you have to do is wire it for a cobra 29 ltd and you will be in business.
No Modulation!!
Hi,
Most modulation problem could be traced to:
1. mic or the cable and/or the mic connector;
2. AMC (amplitude modulation control) - it's a single transistor that regulates modulation and occasionally has been known to clamped on the mic audio;
3. the AM/SSB switch - spraying with contact cleaner is a temporary remedy; and/or
4. audio amp - however if your receive audio is good, then this does not apply.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Without a model number, I can't be more specific as to component(s) or PCB location but pls post back for any developments (or lack thereof) or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kindest regards.

Uniden pc78elite antenna light
What kind of antenna is it? Have you checked your standing wave? To do this process you will need a field strenth or a SWR meter to do it,would be cheaper to have it checked at Radio Shack or you can buy one,and do it yourself. Some radio antenna light come on when transmitting,....hope this helps....
I have a Uniden 76xl. It was putting out about 7
D8 is a polarity protection diode. you have hooked something up incorrectly. I would go over what you have done, and do not try using the radio until you fix it. If you haven't already, you are going to have to replace D8.
Pc78elite won t transmit but receive is ok
Have the SWR's ever been checked on this radio when it was installed? where they over 2 or higher?
Most likely the final transmit transistor is bad from too high of an SWR.
FM conversion ?..
Speak to Spectrum Communication, they sell FM boards. Google their company name for details. thanks
When the radio is powered
If this is a high-pitched tone it probaly is from the DC-AC inverter that provides the high voltage to light up the front panel. Normally, this is barely audible, but I've seen a few that are loud enough to be annoying. It may be possible to install a small filter in the power line to the inverter, inside the radio. I've never tried this but if the inverter is the source of the noise, this will be the most practical way to isolate ite & eliminate the problem.
This should onlty be attempted byan experienced CB technician.
