dont have to change any...connect s-video lead and press fn + the f key that has an icon of monitor on it (little square box)
for instance mine is f2 so I would press fn +f2 (not fn then f2 ,,fn and f2 together)
for most hp the f key is f4...
so you press togethher once and you have signal to tv ..press again you have signal on tv and pc press again and its back to pc only

Definitely a hard drive failure, pull the hardrive out if its no longer under warranty(the pc) and you can get hard drive tested kits that allow you to hook up the hard drive to a working pc and test the hard drive for errors, some are so fried they wont even read. The chirping sounds sounds worst case scenario. But it is deffinately a hard drive failure.

you need to download the Intel chipset driver from Acer website click here Drivers and Manuals select notebook then Aspire then 5670 select XP as the Operating System download and install it hope that is helpful

While in safe mode, do a system restore.Click on Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System RestoreSelect a date when the computer was still working great. Launch it. The problem maybe the RAM, it is faulty or just needsreseating to make proper electrical contact.Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up thenremove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop andget them to test the RAM for you.

Your redo disks should be damaged. Or your memory also could be damaged. In worst case, try to download the disk again from acer and burn it to a disk and try the new one. If it is not working yet, you should use a linux live disk to test your memory. If it is damaged, buy new memory RAM units and change it.

You must install the correct sound card driver for your OS. And then everything will work just fine.

You probably should see if the driver for the mouse and keyboards is properly installed if that's all your having problems with. Go and re download the drivers from the website and see if that doesn't work.
