I cracked the plastic outer screen

Try your local phone doctor. My local one fixed my camera for a reasonable price though I had a few weeks wait for a part to arrive from China.

I have a 4yr old Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx .that has ceased to function .Do you have the capability of working on this device

The on/off switch on these were problematic.. so you might want to look at the linkage and switch before digging deeper, below. Corrosion is a problem. If you can clean it up, you should. If the corrosion is a result of a leaking battery, you should disassemble the device as far as possible to allow access to areas that have been contaminated with battery acid. I like to use a q-tip dampened in a mixture of baking soda and water (about 10% baking soda and 90% water). Battery acid conducts electricity and must be removed. Anywhere it is results in changes in the values of components and can cause a great deal of problems. You may also be able to exchange for a modest sum with Garmin for one of their rebuilt units - if available. Good luck!

Buzzing noise when i turn off Garmin 60CSx

This problem is Mac OSX related and can be solved using Cleaneject http://www.javawa.nl/cleaneject_en.html
The OSX operating system creates several invisible files and folders on USB-disks, camera's and GPS devices and the Garmin GPS devices can't cope with these invisible files and folders.
Cleaneject erases the invisible files and folders.

GPS won't fully reset

Resetting will not delete tracks - you must delete the track(s) individually. Your manual is here. Turn to page 26 and read "Using Tracks" to learn how to delete them. Good luck!

The time zone can be set in:

How and what steps to install a more detailed map

Hello,

To get more detailed mapping for 60CSx the easiest way is just to purchase them on a pre-loaded microSD card. You can also buy mapping on DVD but this requires you to load your own SD and is a little bit more work, but this would give you the ability to view them on your PC and create custom routes. All these items can be obtained from www.gpscity.com or www.gpscity.ca.

Hope this helps!

How to plot my map in this gps

Hello,

The 60 CSX dosent support custom maps but if you are looking to plan a route or plot waypoints the easiest way is to acquire a copy of Garmins TOPO disks and do all of this on the PC. You can also do this on the unit using " Mark Waypoint".

Hope this helps!

Using dnr garmin or map source how do I transfer from excel

I've just had to do this. Somewhat annoying and I'm sure there must be a quicker way. Let me know if you find one. <br /><br />Firstly you need ArcGIS or something that can create .shp files. Load the Excel file into this. In Arc you need to right click the table and display the x y data (just to make sure it's all okay). Then save as a layer. Then export as an .shp file. <br /><br />You can the open the.shp in DNRGarmin and upload to your GPS..,<br /> <!-- from fixya rte -->

My 60 csx wont upload map coordinates from a map

The upload problem is generally communications settings in the software you're using to upload. You could try the freeware EasyGPS to make sure you can really communicate with the unit.

The "invisible waypoint" problem, if that's what you are describing, is generally a function of distance (ie, the unit only shows the closest points). Try sorting by name.
