For latitude there's not much to do. check the power adaptor/connecting pin --- if any problem. If not than u need to replace the board.

go to your control panel then sounds and audio devices and check your settings

Could be an incorrect bios hard drive setting. Dell has a good customer service area. Did you use same type of drive SATA TO SATA? IDE to IDE? If you changed over there might be a setting to account for the difference.

check and see if DMA is on.

1st. Try to turn the laptop w/battery and power cable, if still not able to boot try without the battery only power cable.
If none work use only power cable to start computer and use an external monitor. If still not working move the following.
Make sure the laptop is not plugged to power nor battery before you do the following,

1 re-seat the HDD but fore you do that make sure you not statistic,
2 start laptop again, if the problem still there follow the same steps but do it instead to the memory card.

Make sure to be very careful with the memory if you statistic you can damage the memory.

You computer is not fully posting wish means that is a problem when the computer is trying boot, memory could be one or Hard drive, another problem could be you BIOS.

I don't understand your question. Are you trying to install Win7? Do you have the installation disc? Why are you using a setup from another manufacture? Do you have any instructions for your notebook?

I know about a virus program at www.malwarebytes.org. Some say it's great. I had it and it found a lot of trojan horse virus. They have a free version you can try. Be very careful typing the addr in and don't forget the .org. hope this helps

Yeah the slowdown is the laptop throttling back due to overheating.

When you do processor-intensive work like - streaming videos - the laptop overheats. The fans come on loudly.

When the computer heats up despite the fans, the processor throttles back to relieve the heat.

When you reboot your machine, it stops performing intensive work, giving it a chance to cool down. It's not restarting that fixed the problem it's the fact that the laptop cooled down.


So here's what you do. Get an air duster and blow all the dust and gunk out from your fans. They are most likely clogged with dust and that's what's causing your cooling problems. If there are large dustballs in there, use a tweezers and pull them out. Get as much out as possible.

This is the SpeedStep technology feature of your processor. It will speed back up to 1.7 GHz when it is needed. Slowing down the processor saves battery life.

I may have addressed this question earlier. If your Dell shows absolutely no sign of life... no LEDs, no nothing and you know for certain the battery and/or power adapter is good then... If you have access to a docking station (ANY Dell dock that will mate with the bottom connector on your D800), put the D800 in the dock and use the power button on the docking station. If the laptop powers up, you may have a simply problem with the laptop "Press to turn on" button. ABOVE THE LAPTOP KEYBOARD... Use a small flat screwdriver blade to remove the Center Control Cover (just beneath the display/cover hinge and above the F1-F12 keys). Locate the cover's flat ribbon cable connector above the Page Up key. Pull off and carefully reinstall. Try the power button now. If it works, put everything back together. Otherwise seek profession help.

If you see power lights but nothing appears on the screen, it could be a "POST" (Power-on Self Test) problem or simply LCD problem.

Here are some steps that you can try. One of these may work on your case.

1. Remove the battery and the ac adapter then press the power button for at least 20 seconds to drain electric charges left on the system. (You may need to repeat this step to get it work.)

2. If above step doesn't work, try to plug in an external monitor and see if you get display from the external monitor.

3. If you get display from the external monitor, I'm sure your having problem with the LCD components. In this case, check and replace faulty LCD backlight, LCD cable or LCD inverter. The LCD inverter is often a culprit.

4. Try to reinsert the memory module/s (RAM) of the unit, try using one RAM at a time to see if it works. A faulty RAM will cause the laptop not to POST.

5. If reinserting the RAM doesn't help, most likely your motherboard needs to be replaced.

Recovery disk are need if not if you have the have windows disk you can do a clean reinstall.
