Horribly loud grinding noises in bread machine

I made many loaves of bread over the past 2 years and then I heard a grinding noise with the last loaf I made, earlier today. When I cleaned it, I noticed that the dowel that holds the paddle was lose. When I pressed it down, during cleaning, it popped right out. There was what looked like a shredded white plastic washer. It would be nice if I could order this washer but I suspect this might be the end of that bread machine, since nobody here seems to be offering a solution. I don't even see where I could order the whole breadpan. Sunbeam only offers the whole bread machine. And Amazon offers the paddle.

The apparatus/prongs that operate the paddle don't move properly

Take off the bottom and spray the bearing under the oven with automotive brake cleaner. This will free them up.

Hi,
Those parts are usually unavailable. You will have to purchase a new bread pan (very expensive) by searching on ebay or google, or buy a whole new bread maker. (about $50.00 new).

Sunbeam 5891 Breadmaker stops for several seconds

It is normal. It allows the dough to fall back on the mixer blade. Often these reverse and that also gives the motor time to come to complete stop before reversing.

I have a locked up breadpan. Need another

Hi,
This happened to me also. I looked on Ebay but they were so expensive ($19.95 + $10.00 s/h) so I just went to Walmart and bought a new machine for $52.00. Seems they don't provide new bread pans so you have to buy a new machine. Oh well. Not a true solution, but hope this helps.

Someone posted a comment that they soaked the pan overnight in soapy water and it freed up.

BREADPADDLE

I lost a paddle in a 'gift' loaf of bread and never received it back. I contacted the company directly with an 800 # located in my manual. Problem solved--a replacement could be purchased + shipping. Sunbeam is a supportive company--I bet you can do the same. Good luck.
