Sony KDF-E50A10 50 in. LCD HDTV Questions & Answers
When I turn on the TV the picture comes on for
The problem with the television is that the lamp is bad and need to be replaced. This is as a result, of overheating inside the unit of the television. Be sure to have your television where there is proper vent.
Try to unplug the television for a while before working on it as the television stores high voltage in it. Then you Turn to the back of the television, then you unscrew the television and assess the lamp of the television and replace it with a new one.
Reassemble the television back together and power it on. That way it will work properly.

54" Sony Wega made a loud popping sound and now has Black lines
When I got my new LCD big screen, it had a black line across the entire width. It looked like the screen was pinched.
They claim that it can be repaired but that repair costs as much as a new tv.
My tv was replaced. Hopefully your warranty is still in place to get the unit replaced.
Now it has 4 red blinking lights on after the tv turns on
https://docs.sony.com/release/KDFE42-50A10.pdf
all three lights are on because
1 the lamp needs changed
2 the overheat is running hot because the fans and heatsinks are cloged with dust
3 its shut down because the lamp is old failed and overheating
above is the link to the manual study it and youll see...
clean it out fully
drop the back off demount some pcb and fans etc
and vaccume out carefully and change the bulb
basically a good service needs doing
if your not in the mood and use ebay to get a new bulb cheep {prob one without the holder}
then take it too a tech
if you take it get the cheep bulb option first and have him fit it
safe you getting ripped off for parts cost...
its just the bulb and fan units
so dont panic
the projection screen might need a clean with IPA and the reflector panel cleaned also
depends what the TV setup is not familiar with this model fully
much as a much in this type
all thee lights is common to bulb going meltdown... soon
so change it out and clean all is the rule here
happy crimbo...

Sony KDF-E50A10 stays on for 15-20 minutes then
The reason this happens the most is because of the lamp being weak. I have not seen anything else cause this problem. You can varify this by turning the set off and wait until it shuts down totally.
with the Sony remote, press the display button, the #5 button,
volume down button, then power button. This puts you into the the factory error code mode. If you see the lamp code with multiple errors and no other errors shown, the lamp is the problem.
Most of Sonys lamps have a aprox life of 3000 hrs. Some last longer and some shorter.
I hope this helps,

This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times.
