Unfortunately, I've had a look around on the net, and this is a problem that you can't fix yourself. It's to do with a rare fault in the software of the Bravia Engine. If you can still return it to Sony under warranty, then go for that - just contact their customer support to arrange it. If not, still give them a ring; the quote they give may be pricey, but not as expensive as getting a whole new set.
If it really is too expensive, try to address a letter to the CEO explaining your discontent - nine times out of ten you'll get a profitable response.
Saying all of this though, if you live in the UK you're entitled uner the 1979 Sale of Goods Act to take it back to the store you bought it from without a receipt for up to six years after purchase, and they're obliged to take it back. It's 'unfit for purpose'. If you're not, there must be something like that where you are...do look into it, as it could be the solution you need - the television must be, after all, relatively new.
Apologies for the bad news, but as I say, I'm pretty certain that you can't do anything about this...it's just an instability in the software of a few machines.
