On the original SONY remote press display to remove that---if left on long enough it will actually burn that image into the screen--button on almost any Sony Tv remote will remove or clear it.

Do you mean the bm board? bm board is the designation Sony gives to the main video board on LCD TVs. Problems/distortions in an image or picture are usually related to either the BM board or the LCD panel itself or it's t-con board. I'm not sure what you mean by "web like screen". Can you elaborate? The only thing I think of when you say web like screen is a cracked screen with spider-web cracking over it.

If the screen is dark and there is still sound is usually because there is no power to the inverter board. Parts that cause this are inverter, power supply or main controller board. Power to the LCD panel should also be tested.

before declaring the TV faulty make sure that the problem is not cable settings or source selection.

Check if there is on screen display (the menu). If OSD is displayed, then the problem is either cable/source settings or a defective input circuit. Try also disconnecting power cord for ten minutes and then up to one hour. Power drain may fix temporary faults.

If all that does not work, then the problem is either inverter or power board. In some case the main controller board may also be responsible.

The inverter is a power board that converts DC voltage from PSU into AC high voltage, powering the whole backlight system. When there is a problem with the inverter the whole screen will be completely dark, while the sound keeps going on.
A problem with the inverter will mean that either inverter is bad, power supply is bad and does not power the inverter, or main board is bad and does not turn inverter on. From a user level point of view, all you should do is disconnecting power cord for fifteen minutes, and testing the TV with different connected devices and different cables (e.g. with a DVD, a receiver box, using a SCART and using HDMI).
Disconnecting power will allow a power reset that sometimes can fix temporary problems (usually not sound but no picture).
Testing different cables and devices excludes the chance of the problem being given by a bad cable connection.

If that does not work, call the manufacturer at the number listed in the owners manual. Verify warranty status (warranty may have expired 09/10). Make present to the operator that the TV is just out of warranty, and that the fault occurred without you making any wrong use of the TV. Some manufacturer in some case apply special condition.

Your TV should have component inputs to connect your PS3 to. You will have to get an adaptor such as appears on the link I have provided. You will only be able to use resolutions such as 480p, 720p or 1080i since component does not support 1080p. Hope that helps : )

Hi sandersonkie,

Sad to say because 4 flashes of the led light at the front panel is an error code for faulty "LCD Panel". This is the expensive parts on the unit, almost same cost of a new set if you are going to send it in for parts and labor. Check if your unit is still under warranty/extended warranty period, avail it because the manufacturer will fix it for free. If not, new unit is more practical than to send it in.

If you can see the screen iluminate I wouldn't assume the panel has failed. It seems that your video sources are not being decoded and then shown. I would suspect the mainboard (aka tuner board) to be having problems. It may not be getting the proper voltage needed from the power supply. When repairing, start simple and that is ALWAYS the power supply FIRST...then other components second.

7 blinks in the this series(KLV) means there is a short in the power supply board. The easiest way to fix this would be to swap out the board. I can find you a replacement if you want to try fixing this yourself.

Please check fuse for blown. Also check the defective capacitors

Either the 24vdc power supply or the backlight inverter board is bad, you need to troubleshoot the problems.

most the time when this happens it sounds like you may have a bad inverter board. This board powers the back light on the lcd panel. This board may be replaceable or the complete panel may need to be replaced. If the panel must be replaced you will be buying a new tv. Very expensive part. If the inverter is available separately then it may be worth repairing. You should contact a Sony ASC for an estimate or a local repair shop.

However, count the number of time the light flashes b4, it pauses for a brief time and starts flashing again. The # of flashes represent what the service problem could be, but no matter what your looking at replacing a circuit bored, or lamp, or something other major in your tv.

note: you can try reseting your tv, by (unpluging it, after doing so hitting the power button, and leaving it unplugged for about an hour.) probably wont do anything for you but worth a try.

Are these lines visible regardless of what device (DVD player, cable box) you are watching?  If so, then yes, it appears the LCD panel is failing.  If you only see the lines watching one device, it could be the cable/wire or the device itself.  Now it can also be the related input jacks too so connect the device to another input to be sure.

More information is required. Your backlight is lit (screen not dark) but I need to know what you have connected to the TV (your sources) and how they are connected. Does the menu/OSD (on screen display) work?

Check the cables. It sounds like the cable for blue is loose.

If you watch how many times the light flashes and then relay that to your local authorized sony repair centre they will tell you what is likely wrong with the TV. Have you unplugged, left for a couple of minutes and re-plugged?

More information is required. What do you have hooked up to the TV and how is it connected? Do you have a menu/OSD (on screen display)?
