An HDMI to RCA component or composite cable only works for video projectors that are designed to read a computer signal. TVs, Blu-ray players, and DVD players use a different format compared to computers. You need an HDMI to RCA converter. The provider should at least give instructions or connect it up for you---lots of ways to do this if using a receiver and a sat box etc.Start with looking over the owner manuals for what you have. A lot of TV shops will for a fee come out and hook everything up right.

The correct setup depends on whether you have a cable/satellite receiver and whether you want to record to and playback from the VCR. If you are using a cable/satellite receiver, this needs to be connected to both the TV and the DVD/VCR if you want to record. The DVD then needs to be connected to the TV via the video and audio out sockets on the back of the DVD/VCR for playback.

I can let you know exactly which connections to use and where they should all go, but I need to know the following details as otherwise I don't know which sockets/connect you have available.

1. Brand and model number of TV
2. Brand and model number of DVD/VCR
3. Brand and model number of any cable/satellite receiver if you are using one.

You have to make sure the tv/vcr switch is on, the way you do this is put a tape in and press play, make sure the set is set to 3 or 4 in back of VCR, then make sure your tv is program to that channel 3 or 4 it has to be programmed and to be prog,, it must see something there.

You just can't. Not without an external receiver.

Your TV is simply missing a piece of hardware - it is called TUNER - that can understand the signal that runs through the cable (or an antenna) and decode it into simple video signal.

So the only solution is to buy an EXTERNAL TUNER device (also called external receiver or external set top TV box).

Those are rather cheap compared with what they used to be, but if you care for an advice from professional it is: sell your TV and use the revenue towards the purchase of a new one. All TVs currently in the mainstream sales channels have that thing built-in.

Some of the older models that you will find on Craigslist (like yours) do not.

it is usually not a problem for users with cable TV because most cable TV boxes also have a built-in tuner. If you are talking about how to connect your TV to your local cable company then the right thing to do is call your cable operator and tell them you want a newer receiver that outputs standard composite (one yellow one red one white) or component (green, blue, yellow and white and red) - if your TV has the later.

You can either get a svideo to coax switch box or get a old vcr and run your cable through it.

there should be a dvi or vga input on the tv you will need a male to male vga lead and plug it in to tv and graphics card and switch it on

this is a monitor plasma tv and it will need some type of tuner to bring the cable channels down to the audio/video jacks or the composite video jacks(blue/red/green) you can use a cable ready vcr to input the video in tv jacks and hook up the cable in to your vcr rf input.

if stand-by voltages are good, you probably have bad inverter board. could be one or two depending on unit

This sounds like the color processor IC is not working properly. If this is the case you will have to have this checked by a qualified technician.

These sets are manufactured by Funai, in my opinion total junk, yet they command a $1,500 price tag. Small high voltage blue capacitor C2250 (Between Two very big electrolytics and right next VSUS diode D2250 (TO-220 package) on aluminum heatsink) shorted, burned. I have two of these sets in the shop at the same time, both of them have the very same problem, appears to be common and parts seem to be NLA for this unit. Replace C2250, 1,500 pF @ 1Kv. Usually marked as 152K on small high voltage capacitors in junk units. This is not a common value part so if you have to, make one by parallelling a .001 uF cap (102) with a 470 pF cap (471) to get a suitable 1,470 pF capacitor at 1 Kv. Adjust VSUS with VR2250 on SMPS board to read 175 VDC to GND and you are done. You're welcome. ~Ohmster

you cannot increase resolution, if you want to play a 480p/i video on a 1080p/i or 720p screen, you are merely stretching the picture.

If there is any kind of box that tells you it can convert 480i/p to 1080p/i or 720p(high definition) it is simply stretching the picture.

you can convert 1080p/i or 720p(high definition) to 480i/p as you are taking out information from the video to make it smaller.

listen what you do is go down your local electronics shop and buy a video card or scart card which allows yyou to connect your pc to your television and v v . and the surround system wer you connect your pc speakers you buy a lead whiocih allows your to convert a phono plug to a 9mm phone jack and use that. hope it helps you.

Guess what you may have hit the nail on the head. Plasma TV used a balast type power system for the backlighting and that is what you are hearing. I would suggest getting this set looked at to see if the plasma excitor needs to be replaced (it may have another name in this brand of set).
