Low sound on Magnavox tv 15MF605T/17

I have the same problem. Then I tapped the speaker and it would go on louder, then it started going off and then on, really irritating,

Try turning it off and unpluging it for a few minutes and then on again - it has something to do with the static building up.
It worked for me - Let me know if this works for you.

Menu problem

The first thing to try when you lose any feature or function is to unplug the set from it's power source for a minute to allow reset. The second thing to look closely at is to see if any button on the set or remote is engaged, meaning stuck. Sometimes a button gets lodged beneath it's surrounding framework and blocks certain commands from operating. If these two things fail to correct it, then it's time for a repairman, which, believe me, we're seeing alot of these lcd sets in for repair even only a year or two old. Most have power or screen issues, but yours sounds like there is a failure on the main p.c.b. This board controls audio/video processing and all information sent to the screen and speakers. Good luck with reset because defective replacement boards are becoming more and more numerous these days, Russmann.

Maybe they mean you need to rescan for channels (and possibly switch the tuner to cable mode).

IR reciever in my Magnavox 15MF400T/37 does not respond to the remote.

You basically have to take the tv apart backward to get to the front. Start with the back panel unscrew all the screws. Then you will see the internals. IR sensor should be botton left side if you looking down on it.

Screen says attention no signal

Your TV is probably on the PC mode and you are not using it as a PC monitor.

You need to change the source by pressing the TV/Video button on the remote control or the SOURCE button on the TV itself. You may also just press the channel up or down buttons. Do this before the TV goes to standby mode (amber light) or while it shows the message: ATTENTION NO SIGNAL.

If it does not work, reboot the TV first and do this again.

My tv changes channels on its own

This can be a defect on the control board, or with the uPC. This is not something you can fix yourself.

Tv split screen

This can be the screen itself, or the drive board, or a bad ribbon cable assembly for the screen operation.

The set will have to be serviced by the authorized service rep.

How do you repair the or check the Back lamp?

This is not something you should do yourself unless you are experienced at doing this type of service.

If you call the parts supplier for the manufacture of your set, you have to find out the part numbers for the backpane lamp and power supply for them.

Some sets use 2 sets of lamps and power supplies together, or a common supply for multiple lamps. This is model and design dependent.

In some models the lamps are not able to be replaced. They replace the complete screen assembly.

In some models of screens, the complete screen assembly must be taken apart like a wafer system. Taking the screen apart is not too bad. It is getting it back together, and having the lamps installed to not give shading errors.

You will most likely have to undo a number of ribbon cables. If the cables are heat sealed to the circuit board, they will have to be replaced, and re-sealed back on. If the ribbon cables are on connectors, then this will be easier.

My suggestion is to give the set to the Philips service rep to evaluate and replace the lamp system if it is feasible or able to be done. If they make an error or accidentally damage something, they will be responsible. When they do the work they should warranty their job.

Magnavox 15MF400T/37 Channel chosen is not correct channel

Check the instrucitons to verify if the channel table is pre-setable to designate your own numbers.

Most TV sets have an autoprogramming for the channels. Look in the menu for the auto programming and let the set re-program the channels if your set has that option. This feature will re-program the channals, and re-set their defaults.

If the channels are not able to be pre-setable to a custom table, then this indicates that there is a pre-scaling fault in the tuner or in the uPC. In this case, the set will need service.

Cable for my manavox 15mf400t/37

The tuner and or the IF sections in the TV are going defective, or there is a power supply distribution fault that is effecting the TV's front end. One or both modules, or a board may need to be changed.

Take the set to the Philips authorized service to verfiy and fault and have an estimate.

Screen goes out but sound remains

A blown fuse would not be intermittant.

It is possible that the back plane lamps, and or the back plane power supply is failing.

When the set is in the dark screen, shine a flashlight on the screen at an offset angle. Look carefully and see if you see the picture images. If so, this proves that the back plane lighting is having a fault condition. If there is no image at all, then there may be a fault condition with one of the drive boards for the picture processing or the screen itself.

Some channels have no color or sound

once a signal falls below a certain threshold the color will be lost.
some sets are more sensitive to this loss.
if you see static in the picture on any of the channels then the cable is leaking and needs replaced /tightened.
if a local air broadcast is leaking into a same cable channel on the cable you will get poor to no reception on that channel.
for example : he we have a local channel 7 on the air.
if i tune to cable 7 and see a weak or distorted pic then the cable is leaking and needs replaced.
