not to alarm you but several models that had the ambilight feature were subjects of the consumer products safety commission recall for shorting in the ambilight feature this can be checked on the us products safety commission website do a google search on your model number assuming the panel is not one of recalls the tv probably needs the power supply board there are several fuses on it ; one that you will find open the fuse shorted for a good reason there is power fet or sumthin on the power pcb dead shorted put in a new board call phillips consumer support and complain that you dropped way too much money on a flat panel tv when you could have bought a dlp tv if thats too complicated buy a new one

The only Item to fix a vertical line running through screen is to replace the panel itself. You can check the price at a repair shop or through parts.com for a rough estimate but I can tell you it will be more than what the TV is worth.

This problem is related to two failures, one is the Power Supply Board, another one is the Y-Main Board. Troubleshoot procedures:

1. Disconnect the Vs Power Supply cable from the Power Supply Board,
2. Turn on the tv and check the Vs voltage on Power Supply Board,
3. If the Vs voltage is there, then the Y-Main board failed.
4. If the Vs is not there, then the Power Supply Board failed.

Are there any magenetic devices like speakers or high amp stereo recievers next to the TV? These blotches could be because of electro-magnetic intereference. Try moving devices away (anything metallic or which has a magnet in it)

The TV is in some kind of protection mode, the blinking LED show you an error code.

Remove the cover on the back of the tv. Look for swollen or leaking capacitors. They kinda look like batteries. If they are bulging or leaking then that is your problem. You will have to de-solder the old ones off. Then solder the new capacitors onto the circuit board. Capacitors will cost about 20 dollars and installing them isn't that hard to do. It will fix your tv 99% of the time. So it is worth a try!

I'm assuming that you have checked that the sound is not muted. To confirm that a reset to factory settings is the next procedure: Menu - Setup - General - Factory settings. If you don't see/hear any modifications then it's a hardware defect, not something with the settings.
This happens when the tv thinks that the headphones are used. Simple test to confirm that: plug in a pair of speakers and see if you get the sound on them.
