Sharp Aquos LC-32D40U Television - Page 4 Questions & Answers
I have a Sharp Aquos
If back light is On that means inverter board is working and supplying volts to back light CCFLs.
I would check T-Con board that is located at top center at rear of LCD TV. If Tv gives sound, back light is OK but no picture/ display in screen that means LCD panel is not getting video signal and T-Con drives LCD panel to present picture.
Below image will give you an idea where T-Con board is located in TV.
Please check connectors of T-Con board carefully as it has few flexible wires coming from LCD Panel that can be damage easily.
Thanks.
32'' sharp aquos tv will not power up.
Look for the fault in power supply board. First check the fuse and replace it if burned. Then it could be a Voltage Regulator chip(s) burned (they look like transistor with 3 pins). You can test it with multimeter, they could have different pin outs, but generally it should read around 5 MOhms in 2 sets of 2 pins. Or it could be bad capacitors, look for swallen or domed capacitors; measure them with capacitance meter, sometimes they dry out with time. Or it could be other parts in power supply.
Will not show picture from PC
Since the unit does not have a DVI input, you must use one of the HDMI inputs and the pixel ratio resolution should work at 1280x720.
If it does not work, the Main Board will probably need to be replaced. If needed, call Sharp Customer help line at 1800BESHARP.

TV No Picture
Sounds like overheating. Is it physically mounted according to instructions so that it can "breathe"? Keever

I am sorry to hear you are having this type of trouble. It is nothing you are doing wrong.
From what you have typed....you most likely have a poor solder connection or an essential chip needs resetting.
First try a hard rest by unplugging the unit for a minimum of 6 hours, then plug it back in and try again...quite often this removes the "quirks" these LCD's have.
If this doesn't work, then by the way you have described it getting worse it may very well be a poor solder connection...
Over time the solder connections can develop a hairline fracture . This is what I believe is happening to your TV somewhere in the power supply or video board if the reset fails to remedy your problem.
When this continues to happen it can create a small arc and surge voltage into surrounding components and actually damage them so it is best to have the problem resolved before components are damaged such as a capacitor or other essential component in your television.
This would be then be a component or board failure which must be addressed by a professional technician.
Unfortunately your warranty is only good for one year so the a repair cost would not be covered by Sharp if older than 1 year.
The board diagnosis and repair of a problem like this usually runs between about $200-$350 depending on your location, extent of damage, and will be on the higher end if you call for in home service.
TV repairs should only be attempted by trained individuals - as there are potentially lethal amounts of electricity stored inside which needs proper discharge before repair work can begin.
I HIGHLY reccomend letting a professional diagnose your set.
Unfortunately, there is no simple end-user fix.
Thanks for using FixYa!!

No picture from cable box to tv
If you get on screen menues using the Sharp Remote then you have a main board that is defective. If you just bought it new you are in luck as the warrenty on that unit is a lease 1 year parts and 1 year labor. Contact Sharp Customer Service and should be able to refur a Sharp Auth. Repair facility to get you taken care of. In the mean time, If you got on screen menues then you can go to any one of the other video inputs and see if you get a picture.
If you DO NOT get onscreen menues with the Sharp remote then you are out of luck until a service repair facility looks at it.
Hope this helps,

Sounds like you have a bad inverter . When did you purchase the tv??
Blank screen with other displays still working
1. By View your DVR, Do you mean you can actually see a picture?
2. By "Switch Channels", are these channels being tuned by the TV Tuner?
Your LCD Panel is OK Since you have a Picture (input display in right corner)
If you can see a picture with your DVR, VCR, DVD or any external source then your TVs Video Processing is OK....if not you will probably need to replace the responsible PWB for this function
If you can see a picture with the external sources and only the TV's Tuner is not showing Video, The PWB responsible for Tuning within the TV should be replaced.
Also, if all problems are associated with only the DVR (I assume this is Sat or Cable), then it is most likely that this device is not functioning properly. Possibly lost signal or deauthorized.
