Rowenta Effective DX1900 Iron with Auto Shut-off Questions & Answers
Turns on, flashes yellow but never heats up
This is a problem with a lot of Rowenta irons. It is the auto shut off that is not working properly and the only way to fix it is to have it disassembled and the switch hardwired to be on whenever the iron it plugged in. It is a thermal metal switch and it just stops working and then the iron will not turn on and the yellow light blinks.

follow this section troubleshooting and fix it. God bless youClean an iron:
- Unplug the iron and make sure it is cool before cleaning.
- Use a toothpick or pipe cleaner to remove buildup in the steam vents, making sure the debris doesn't fall into the vents.
- Use a fine sewing needle to carefully clean the spray nozzle of mineral deposits.
- To flush sediment from a steam iron, pour 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup
vinegar into the water tank. Place the iron on a rack over a broiling
pan and set the iron to steam until the tank runs dry. Repeat if

cleaner.
Service the steam and spray mechanism:
- Unplug the iron.
- Use a fine sewing needle to unclog the steam valve assembly. Also,
check the valve spring and replace it if it is broken or has lost
tension.
- If the spray pump is accessible, remove it and check for leaks by
placing the spray tube in water and squirting the pump. Clean or replace
as needed.

hi.
this is calcium scaling. it is normal in any "hard" water area. ("hard" water has calcium salts naturally dissolved in it) if you look inside your kettle, you will probably see the same sort of thing.
it is probably happening in all of your appliances that use water and a heating element :-washing machine, boiler, iron, kettle. white vinegar will actually dissolve the scale and break it up, and should not actually harm the iron. i would not turn the iron on with vinegar in it as you could end up with a heated cloud of acid steam.NOT GOOD. there are plenty of proprietory descaling solutions available from most supermarkets. calgon is probably the best known. these solutions are safer, mainly because they have instructions telling you exactly how to use them safely. most will have some form of warranty against damaging the equipment they are used on as well. follow the instructions and descale all your appliances as needed. hope this helps
