First thing, try to connect the monitor to another CPU and see if its gonna work. If it doesn't, then this might be a capacitor failure. One of the capacitors in your monitor that are responsible for holding up power for proper display is faulty. A faulty capacitor is either bulged(with a hump head) or burst. This causes the monitor to go off a few seconds after you switch it on because the capacitors can no longer hold power long enough for your display. One way to work this around is to take your monitor to a Computer Technician to open it up and probably replace the faulty capacitors

This a power failure normally caused by a capacitor failure. Capacitors in this case might be leaking, barged (instead of a flat head, the capacitor has a barged top).
