My monitor goes for 3 seconds black, every 1 minute
First thing, try to connect the monitor to another CPU and see if its gonna work. If it doesn't, then this might be a capacitor failure. One of the capacitors in your monitor that are responsible for holding up power for proper display is faulty. A faulty capacitor is either bulged(with a hump head) or burst. This causes the monitor to go off a few seconds after you switch it on because the capacitors can no longer hold power long enough for your display. One way to work this around is to take your monitor to a Computer Technician to open it up and probably replace the faulty capacitors

LG L1718S monitor comes on
This a power failure normally caused by a capacitor failure. Capacitors in this case might be leaking, barged (instead of a flat head, the capacitor has a barged top). When you switch on the monotr, the capacitors are supposed to hold the power enough for the proper display on the monitor. In your case the capacitor(s) are malfunctioned. That is why they can not hold power for more than 5 secondsSolution:Get a sharp and flat tool and open the monitor (starting from the bottom) working your way round to the top. You will notice finger-like clips that hold the covers together. Once you have opened it, check on the electronic board where you connect the power cable. Notice any barged-head capacitor, or leaking capacitor(s). If you find any, they have to be replaced. Get a Technician to do this for you if you can not.

Having a LG Flatron L1718S.
In
That means the monitor has a problem with the Capacitors. Capacitors inside your monitor can no longer hold up power long enough for your display. This is so because the capacitors might have been blown. This makes the monitor to go on for about 2 to 3 seconds then it goes off.
The solution is to change the capacitors from the board (the part that you connect he power cable). This must be done by a Computer Technician who will safely carry out the procedure. Open up the monitor, using a flat blade and try to separate the cover with the LCD, starting from the bottom, working your way through around. Before you do anything, check for any burged or any with a black smoked colour capacitors...If you find any, then it has to be replaced

I cannot see a button
It looks like you didn't notice the buttons, there should be three buttons on the right pane of the monitor (vertical and when you look at the monitor, they are on the right-hand side), or at the right side panel, which isn't visible from the front, you have to look at them from the right side. Refer the screenshots below (
buttons are highlighted):

Right Panel
Hope this helps, let me know if you need further help.
Good Luck.

Hi my LG L1718S monitor
I had the same problem with my monitor, the problem was that one of the "pins" or "prongs" was bent and mashed flat on the monitor's port plug in cable (the cord from the monitor that plugs into the computer's monitor port). I carefully pried up the prong and straightened it out the best I could and that fixed the problem for me.

My lcd daed
If the repair is not serious, your LCD may be able to be
repaired. Sometimes replacement parts and labor for broken LCDs are
often more expensive than the cost of a new monitor. If you really want to repair it, replacement
screens, power supplies and control boards can be ordered direct from
the manufacturer. Here is the LG Support Site:
http://www.lg.com/us/support/product/support-product.jspCheck this first:
- Remove the power cord from the wall outlet, and the LCD unit, and reconnect the power cord. Try powering on the unit.
- Disconnect and reconnect monitor video cable.

I have a LG Flatron
If the power light remains on after it goes black, the problem is the inverter board that powers the back light behind the screen, the cause is usually bad capacitors. To fix it, the board must be replaced or attempt made to repair the inverter board.

Monitor showing startup screen and
You may have gotten a virus that is preventing the Windows Boot / Startup from running. If so, the only way to fix it without too much experience would be to put your original Windows CD in the drive and then power off the PC by pressing and holding the power on button till the power light goes out. Then power it back on. If I am right, the PC will come up with a screen that gives you the option to boot from CD. If so, select that option (be quick - it times out in about 10 seconds). When it boots up, it will come up in maintenance mode or "safe mode". You may need to get out your PC Manual or Windows Documentation to be able to use this. But if you see an option to "repair an existing Windows OS" or "Restore to a previous time" option. select one or the other and follow the prompts.
If on the other hand the PC does not come up with anything but the black screen again, you probably have something in your PC that has gone bad, like maybe a memory board.
Best of luck. If you can't figure it out from here, you will probably need "expert" help.
