USB will not recognize Nikon D40 Digital Camera

You asked about the USB connection between your camera and the computer. First, be sure you are using an approved USB cord that came with your camera. Nikon gets a little finicky if you use an off brand. Next, be sure your USB outlet is working on your computer. Plug something else into it to be sure it's functional. Next, reboot your computer and shut off your camera. After reboot turn your camera on to see if the computer now recognizes your camera. It would help to know what software you're using for the post processing. Some software has an option to disallow uploading of duplicate photos. This could be the case if you've already uploaded these same images previously. You might want to check for that.

How to make date show on photo with nikon d40

The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.

I have a Fuji Finepix AX200 how do I take a 300 dpi photo and what is the setting

DPI (dots per inch) is an output parameter and is completely irrelevant to the camera. Imagine taking a picture that's 2000 pixels by 3000 pixels. When you make a 4x6 print, you're printing at 500 dpi. If you make a 8x12 print, you're printing at 250 dpi. Either way, it's exactly the same picture as taken by the camera. The camera doesn't know what size print you're going to make, so it just puts in a default value. The dpi is set when you print the picture, not when you take it.

Error message on Nikon D40X camera

Yes, This happens to me if I change the file in any way, but don't take it off of my SD card. .So if you crop it or rotate it or anything, it's changed the file and won't be able to read it the same way. If you just "move" the file (on your computer) to a file, it won't be there any more. Hope that helps...

When I turn my D40 on there is an F flashing and it says Lens not attached , can you tell me what this means and how I can fix it?

If the lens has the electronics to communicate with the camera, try cleaning the electrical contacts on the back of the lens and in the lens mount on the camera body. If the lens doesn't have the electronics to communicate with the camera, set the camera to manual (turn the mode dial to M) and set the exposure manually. If you're not sure whether the lens has the electronics or not, tell us what the lens is.

Nikon d40 autofocus

This happened to me once on a D70... When mounting the lens, make sure it clicks in all the way when turning counterclockwise. Also it may be worthy to note that both the lens AND the camera must be set to autofocus mode ("A" switch set on both lens and cam).

Picture does not appear on the monitor, I must look through the view finder to see what I,m pointing at to photograph

The D40x operates as SLRs have operated for half a century, offering you an optical viewfinder with which to frame and compose your picture. The LCD is for menus, shooting information, and reviewing.Nikon introduced the live view feature, which allows you to hold your camera so it wobbles at arms' length, with the D3 and D300, released half a year after the D40x.While almost all current DSLRs have this capability, it was not so common five years ago when the D40x was introduced.

Sd card won click memory

Do you mean that the SD card does not lock in place? If so the SD card hold is defective and will have to be replaced.Do you mean the camera won't click (fire?). That is usually caused by a failure of the motor for the SQ unit on the side of the mirror box

Nikon D40x has suddenly stopped working in Bulb-mode.

Did you accedentely rotate the mode dail? because as soon as your not in one of the manual modes, you are not able to decide what goes on. In auto (green camera logo) the camera does his own way.
