I have the Sanyou Model

There are a few things that could have gone wrong ..The first you may have fried it ..by using a larger voltage one ..and in this case you should see what is wrong with it ..Probably a fuse on the main board if you are lucky ..
Another thing ...the batteries could be damaged from the same cause..and now they can not keep the power and need to be replaced..
Or the plug was damaged cause you forced a wrong charger into it ..and in this case ..if you plug a charged battery ..it should work ..and you will know it is something wrong with the charging route ..and see what need to be changed.,.The plug ..maybe a wire being damaged..The main idea is even if they look the same ..and have the same plug ..the chargers are not the same ...they have differen voltage and amperage..and its not a good idea to improvise ..if it is just the battery ..it will power up with the original charger..if it do not ..I think you should have it seen by a professional ..at least to give a certain diagnostic and see if it is worth repairing or not ..

Put camera in cradle to charge. red light comes on

try connecting a 9volt battery with a couple of jumper wires to the correct terminals on the battery for about 30 seconds then put it on charge(positve to positive negative to negative) if the battery is to low the charger won't pick it up and start the charging cycle by connecting the 9volt to it t will put a small charge to it to start the charger

USB device unknown

Make sure you are connecting directly to the computer's USB port, not through a hub. Try disconnecting other USB devices before plugging in the camera. Check the manufacturer's website for updaded drivers: if all else fails, a reinstall of the camera's drivers may be in order.

Yes, I get red flashing too occasionally.
turn the power off and on using the button under the screen.

reformat the card either via a computer of if possible via the camera menu item.

Remove and re-insert the card.

purchase a new and faster SD card.

Sanyo Xacti HD2 Flip Flash Not flashing

Hmm...I can't find a software control either. When the flash is down there is a cross through the lightening mark in the upper left portion of the screen, and when I press the flash button and raise the flash the same lightening mark in the upper left has no cross through it. Do you have the same mark? Does the flash button have no effect upon the mark?

Black screen

Try removing the battery and putting it back in again. This happens to mine. Also make sure that the SD card is fast enough. I.e. a 40x SD or more card or a class 6 SDHC card.

I need an "activation code" from Corel to complete the installation

Perhaps your camera only comes with a trial or limited edition of the software. Try proceeding without the activation code and/or read through the camera's documentation very carefully.

Well, There is an extra cord that connects to the computer and the camera, I don't know the exact name of this But If you have this and are needing help with that, a pop up from your computer should come up saying "Input device" and you should be able to do it there easily.
