I tried all the solutions offered on the net and none worked except one. It simply said "hit the camera with the palm of your hand" (when it is on) and the screen will return. It is possible that the auto focus motor drive or the drive circuit is faulty. What can be done fromthe outside to take the battery out for about 10 minutes and also remove off the memory card. Now replace and test. If the fault stays then repeat with a slight tap on the lens hood on your palm .If no difference then the set must be opened but I would advice this is not a DIY job. But if you want to proceed then use correct tools and open to get access to the Mp circuit. On this you can find the feed lines to the lens drive. Check on the drive on this section. However only in event of a fusible resistor,open line or break or jammed motor can a job be done because if the IC drive is suspect we need to get back to Canon.

To delete photos, first press the Playback (looks like the Play button on most recorders) button. This is above the main menu wheel.
