Require a instruction manual for a Canon DC21, in

The DC21 was not marketed in the United States, and I cannot locate an English version of the manual on Canon Europa's site (although the manual is available in six other languages there). But the DC21 appears to be quite similar in specification to the DC22 that was marketed in the US. Here is a link to the DC22 manual. Understand that the specifications for the NTSC model may be different than the PAL model, but operating procedures should be very much the same.

Can you initialize a DVD-RW

hi its geoff
yes you can. i dose say that no more recording can be done after the disc is finalized (thats true, you first have to unfinalize the cd to write more files on it.but you can initialize the disk at any time but you lose the recorded content(it frormats the disk) then you can use the disk over and over again. remember finalizing and unfinalizing requires you to plug the mains charger into the camcorder it assumes theres not enough power in the battery to do the job and will need the mains every time.but initializing only requires sufficient battery power .

Can the min DVD-rw be upload into computer?

Just put the mini-DVD into your computer's DVD drive (not CD-ROM). You can then copy the files on the DVD to your computer.

I have a DC210 and

Im not sure what may cause it to not work ..but I suspect the firmware need reinstalled..in what you asked about the disk being finalized in another way ..it actually can not be ..but ...it can be copied from the disk (the footage) and after that made in a recover format and after that converted in normal avi ..
sounds more complicated that it is ..practically you need a program that will see the raw footage on the disk and recover it in the computer in a readable format ..that can be made in a normal avi or divx or mpeg4 ..
a program you should try is this one..http://www.isobuster.com/
do not be intrigued cause it is practically a recovery program...what you have to do in order to be sure your drive read teh files is kinda a force Toc
just see the tasks in the program and use one ..I would go for the recover files..after that see what kinda files it makes and try to convert them with this ..

I have a Canon DC210 that was given to me and

Well seeing as you said the camera was given to you anyway, so you have paid nothing to be honest right? so yes it is worth spending £80 on to get it mended, if it is as I think just a problem with power supply, you are looking at about £40 max.

Finalizing the DVD

Well this sounds like the disk was removed too fast from the camera before it had ended writing, you need to stop filming, wait at least 1 minute then remove disk because it ends the disk write not you yourself.

I have a cd n the cam.....it makes noise like its

there is always the possibility for a human error..during the the taping or maybe one of the disks was damaged..(I get that a lot ) or you just forgot to finalize the disk or maybe like in some cameras and recorders is needed to format the disk before the record..
My advise is to get a player with a wide range of formats..like the VLC player ..and install it into your computer and after that see if the disk is play-able into the computer ..If it does at least you will have to see the properties and the format it was saved in ..and this may get you a clue ..and you can convert to the format supported by the camera ans re burn t ...(be sure you match the bit-rate and frame-rate with the one that works..(from the converter )
