I have had a problem like yours and yes there is software that will get you back in but you should try Windows XP Startup disk or Windows XP CD to use Recovery Console. When either of these two is inserted, restart your computer. When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console. Once the Recovery Console is open, type your Administrator password (blank by default) and input fixmbr to get MBR fixed. Note that the fixmbr command may damage your partition table (part of MBR) if a hardware problem exists. You may also create inaccessible partitions by this command. I have the same. It think it needs GPS HARDWARE REPLACEMENT.

By MS Active sync from computer delete file Mounted Volume/my flash/sony/nav-u.exe (the folder SONY is hidden, you must set show hidden files in your comuter first). And then replace old navi file by exe file of total commander CE version ( download is free on site of developer) .You must rename the totalcmd.exe to nav-u.exe. Now after reboot is allowed everything, including executing any other navi software like tomtom, igo, navigon and many other (multimedia players). The oficial navi (old navigon) by sony is not so good in compare with new navi soft. .. enjoy.

Be sure you have SONY usb cable and be surely sure if you have plugged in your nav-u ac charger. All two things in rihght side connected to nav-u. hope it helps

First, You MUST use the AC power adapter when connecting the unit to the computer. But if you are using the AC power and the message still is the same, try the following:

2. Close all applications that may be running
3. Temporarily disable any antivirus software you may be running
4. Reset the Nav-U unit by placing a safty pin or something likewise into the reset channel and hold down for approx. 15 sec.
5. Uninstall Microsoft ActiveSync from the Add/ Remove programs and then reinstall it using the Nav-U DVD
6. If possible, test it on another computer.
