My sony bravia has no audio when used as cable tv
Check the connections between the cable box and the TV. If you are using scart check the connector is in squarely if using rgb or composite you need a separate audio connection using the red and white phon sockets.
Thin line vertical on tv
The LCD Panel needs to be replaced to fix this problem. The cost of doing it out of warranty would cost as much as buying a replacement set.

Power surge hit my surge protector with my 'sony tv hooked to it.
Well, the power supply may be still damaged by the surge, what may happen is that when first surge happens the surge protector protect your TV by sacrifing itself but then the second surge comes along, since the protector already blown up then the surge will just come right through to the TV on the second surge. That is bad problem for the surge protector that sacrify itself but can only do it for ONE time.
Sound problem
Go into your TV settings and change the Automatic Volume Control Sound Mode. It's probably at Dynamic and the TV is trying to adjust the volume. The popping sound may be caused by static electricity building up on the circuits of your TV or cable.
Does this also happen when you are watching a video/DVD?
Audio cuts in and out
Had the same problem with mine.
Took off HDMI cable and used the HD cable (Red Blue and Green) for video and standard (red and white) cable for audio.

you would have to get a exchange module that has the av ports as well as hdmi jacks you can either order a service manuel to obtain the part numbers or call sony have your model and serial at hand when you call
Brand new sony bravia flat screen tv - sound but
Can you see a backlight on the screen? If not then there will be problem with the screen invertor.If there is a backlight then the problem will be the T- Con board..If the tv is brand new then you will get it repaired free under warranty if less than 1 year old. Hope this helps

There are so many TV's on here with these problems and they all relate to capacitors having blown on the power and sustain boards. Unless you are skilled and have the tools to retune it when boards are replaced.
and understand how to follow a circuit diagram to check voltage this is not a DIY The fix is about $300 all up. so get a professional to do it.

if you have a converter box turn your TV to channel 3 instead or whatever channel you have to use for the box. You might have to turn the converter box off if you don't have one try turning your TV set to front input.
