My vizio p50hdm tv has a solid green light indicating it is turned on but I have no picture or volume. What needs to be replaced? Thx

The Lifetime warranty is a fantsy as most of you help, You should check with the company before posting untrue statements. Nothing has a lifetime warranty so dont waste your time with flights of fancy.

Vizio tv - remote does not work at all

Good day!!!That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..1. Open the back cover of your TV.2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

Audio but there is no picture or brightnessThis is a common issue in many LCD or Plasma sets and it does not have a common solution. In most cases you need to first check for missing voltages on the power supply board and for damaged filter caps there. If good voltages exist then look elsewhere.LCD (not projection) sets often use a back light to provide the light source for the screen unit (display panel) so confirming that the voltage for those is first-if the back lights are being used but not on it is either no voltage, not being turned on by the set, or bad light unit/s.In these sets there are also boards that "Drive" the panel itself. Usually the set will use two boards (some combine both into one large board---names vary but are Inverters, Y-boards (Y means video) T-con boards etc. Usually in this case only one half of the screen will be black but it is possible for it to cause a total loss of brightness also.Plasma sets are similar to some degree but with no back light in most cases.Trouble shooting can be tedious and expensive-Taking one of these sets apart requires some skill as one wrong move and the Display panel can be instantly damaged which is fatal from a repair cost point of view.Other possible solutions include but are not limited to physical problems---loose plugs or connections between boards (look for any plugs held down with tape where they plug into a board). A lot of people with problems play the guessing game-buy and try a board after research which can get expensive and may not fix the set---To gamble or not?I have seen sets where every single board was replaced and set still did not have a picture-means display panel is the problem. The problem can even be the "main" board in some cases -it controls the communication with the panel and if faulty can cause issues.Aside from checking voltages, connections etc. there are a few other considerations---The problem can be the display panel itself---Part cost for that is more than the set cost when new.The panel connects to the boards that drive it with either a multi-pin conventional plug or a RIBBON CABLE.The worst case is if the problem is a ribbon cable etc. bad or damaged INSIDE the panel where it cannot be got at.That means if the case set would cost too much to repair. The connectors where the cable attaches outside of the panel can also develop dirty or loose connections.Fans in units that use them can be an issue if dirty or not moving. As you can see (or not if no brightness) the problem sounds simple but has many possible different causes.Let me know if you have questions as I am here to try to help.SD TECH

My tv blinks then shuts off 4-5 times then normal

Thissounds like a very common issue. If set is hard to turn on (takes several tries)but will eventually turn on hereis what my guess would be.Every set has a standby power supplythat is running 7/24 if the set is plugged in and it supplies voltage to theremote circuit that turn on the main power supply for the tv and hence turn theset on.This is an area where companies cut corners by using lower rated voltage caps.By this I mean Standby usually provides under 10 volts to trigger the seton----what they do is use filter caps rated at say 10 volts max in a circuitwith 9 volts (example)=with the standby on all the time the filter caps(electrolytic caps) dry out and fail. The problem usually begins where you have to turn set on or or two times andgradually gets worse--takes longer and more tries to get it to come up.Once on it will stay on until turned off for a period of time. The caps will begin to work better (regain some of thecapacitance) as they get hot--hence one it is on it will seem ok.The beauty of this problem is most of themhappen when set is a year or two old (no warranty) and all you have to do islook at the top to locate bad ones. They are generally black or blue and round and vary in --they have twoconnections each--a + for positive and a - for negative--not unlike a batterywhich in a way they are. The + and - are marked on top and bottom of most boards. They are easy to replace and not expensive parts. The tops are silverand metal looking with creases on top and if bad they will be puffed up ontop---tops must be perfectly flat with no brown material leaking top or bottom. If this is your problem once you id them (make a drawing) you can begin. Here is the critical part---on each cap is also marked the value like 220uf 10vdc---220 micro farad at 10 volts maximum. If you find for example 6 puffed up and all are 10 vdc replace them with thesame value capacitance (like the 220 uf) but go up to at least in this case(from 10 volts) to a 16 or higher rated voltage cap.The only issue is when you go up in voltage rated value the cap is larger sosometimes there is an issue of physical space for the replacement on the boardto fit them in.The reason they cheapen these sets in this way is if 10 caps and you make25,000 sets there is a considerable savings in parts cost. They do not care as long as it lasts past the usual one year parts warranty.I have taken the time to be long winded because this really sounds like it maybe the problem you have.See attached photo of a typical cap and if you have questions or need advicelet me know3_26_2012_1_39_25_am.jpg

Hi, i am having problems with my TV since day

Hello sir Ibsen,The first thing I suggest is to check the power cord and its connection if the light indicator on the front of TV won't turn on..Used multimeter or volt meter (range to AC) to measure the voltage..If no voltage, replace the power cord because the cord have internal wire break or open connection that can't visually check..If the power cord is good, the possible problem is power supply board inside.. 2_21_2012_1_52_43_pm.jpgIt cost $89.95 to this site http://www.shopjimmy.com/lg-6871qih001a-power-supply-unit.htmBut before you decided to replace the power supply board please try to reset or reconnect all connectors on all boards inside specially on power supply unit..Also I remind you when the TV already open the warranty will void...If you more queries and clarification please feel free to reply to this tread..Hope this solution will be helpful..Thanks for using fixya marketplace and choosing my service..

P50hdtv20a 50inch turns on but no sound or picture

According to forum posts, it sounds like you may have a blown fuse. Your manual may tell you how to replace these fuses. You should be able to get replacements at Radio Shack. The fuses have different values, so remember which value goes where. For more information, search google for: p50hdtv20a fuse

Picture went out on p50hdm Vizio Plazma tv after loud POP

It's either the backlight lamp or backlight inverter is busted due to a power failure or fluctuation. Here's how to determine which is which:
  1. Grab a flashlight.
  2. Turn on the TV.
  3. Shine the flashlight onto the screen.
  4. If you cannot see any display even a faint one, the backlight inverter is dead, else the backlight lamps are busted.
  5. Replace which ever is the culprit.
