HP PL4260N 42 in. Plasma HDTV - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
MY HP TV CHANGES INPUT SIGNAL BY ITSELF
Main system control memory IC fault. This is a very small IC; have 8 solder terminals, and can be located very near to the main system control-chroma IC. Check and replace it. Be sure to replace it with the same number printed on it; in all respect. Otherwise, it won't go.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Before replacing it, try a reset to this set, and then check.
There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here.

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

Is it only when connected to the computer? If so there are several settings that could be causing the issue. The biggest is the refresh rate, make sure it's set to a max of 60HZ. Also make sure the resolution is not set to high. If your TV is 720p it's 1280x720, for 1080p it's 1920x1080 MAX! Also make sure the cable is tight on both ends. If all this is okay, it may be a hardware issue, but it's doubtful. Try hooking the computer to another TV.
If it's not a computer the issue is most likely either the source resolution or the cable.
Good luck

Picture but no sound
Check whether the Mute funcition is ON or Off. If it is ON, make it OFF. If it is OFF, and still you do not get sound output,. there is something wrong with either its audio output circuit, or speaker. If you wish to get more details about how to check these, try this link.

Picture just went out on my tv but I still have sound
I have the same problem with my HP PL4260N 42" Plasma HDTV serial # CNH6141988, model # CPTOH-0602. I have perfect sound and can change channels still with sound but NO PICTURE. I am a consumer with a question that need the advise of an expert.
No sound when connecting dvd player with HDMI cable
HDMI is prone to audio issues---it does not for example like being connected at either end with the units powered up and or on.Try disconnection of power to both units for a short time--do it with the HDMI disconnected. Then connect HDMI back at both ends and power the units on----it cannot hurt and it may help. The other alternatives are the HDMI in the set is acting up or even bad---If the player has Component outputs try going that way to the set---I have never been able to see a difference in picture or sound quality from component to HDMI.The only advantage it has is less cables in my view.

Toshiba Plasma TV HP 42 Inch pop no pict
Most common issue is power supply board fails--Plasma sets do not sell single parts--only a complete board---may need a tech or shop to look and determine what is wrong.I can suggest things but need to know your skill levels--this is not for everyone....
