How easy is it to replace the capacitors
Replacing the capacitors is quite simple just make sure you install them with the right polarity. Remove the back cover and the pedestal stand to get access to the power supply, remove the power supply by disconnecting all the wires from it and the screws.
The capacitors locations are C8059 & C8060.

This model has issues on the power supply with some bad capacitors. If it's under warranty, take it in to be repaired. If it is not, then you can replace them yourself (the two to replace are shown). This may solve your problem. There is also an issue with this model and the buffers but if the picture wasn't going in and out, it shouldn't be a problem.

Tv will not turn on.. but makes a clicking nose
You may need to replace the capacitors too in the power supply. I found mine bad and a fuse blown. I also found a systemic problem with the Buffer boards not being tight... causing half the picture to go black, that I fixed as well. Less than 20$ to fix the TV... and some aggrevation. A service Tech can fix it for you if you aren't a do it yourselfer!

You may have the bad capacitor issue others have had in the power supply. Google your model number and the words "replace capacitors" for the solution. There is also a Youtube video. Also, check the fuses.

Problem for Philips 50PF9631D 50
Before replacing the capacitors check the video from this
link.
The capacitors can be found
here or radio shack might have them. The value should be 3300uF/25v 105 degrees radial if they fit in the space provided by design. Make sure to install them with the correct polarity.
Let me know if you require further assistance.

How do you remove the capacitors for a 50pf
The capacitors are remove by melting the solder until it becomes soft and if you use solder braid it's much easier. The kind of solder to use should be lead free or just ask for leaded 63/37 solder wire. radio shack carries it.
I would suggest to google how to solder to have an idea before you replace the capacitors.
Let me know if you require further assistance.

What does the 6 slow blinking red lights followed
Try unplugging the TV and then plugging it back in after a bit (at least 10 seconds). In several cases, the TV will start to work for a while.
However, the blinking indicates a part or parts that are getting close to failure. Most often this is 2-4 capacitors on the main board. These can be replaced (either by yourself or by a technician if the TV is under an extended warranty). Radio Shack will have the parts; a site called tvrepairkits.com has many prepackaged sets - check for your model.
I hope this helps.

Wont turn on
Hi
With the back removed from the Tv look at the power supply for swollen or bulged capacitors on top, they may even leak a brown like liquid substance from them and are usually valued around 1000uf / 10v.
This is a common fault of these power supplys, any you suspect change with a higher voltage but always keep the same uf.
Lets say 1000uf / 25v
Hope this helps.

Red light blinking seven times
Hi there,
Well most likely the Y-Sus, or Y Sustain board to be more accurate. It's located on the left side of your picture under the support rail and connected to the upper and lower Y-drive modules. It was the two instant start capacitors that were blown (bulging slightly at the top). Part No. Electronics. #ELXZ100ELL332MK25S. Be careful though- he did inform me these capacitors carry a charge even when the TV it off or unplugged so its best to let someone who is familiar with electronics do it. Pull it, send it to PTS and then re-install.
Note. It is a rather difficult job just to pull that board and re-install it. Be very careful not to damage the ribbon cables connecting the Y-Sus to the Y-Drive boards.
Here is the picture -

Philips 50 amblight keeps returning to menu screen
I'd open the TV by pulling the back cover and then disconnect the buttons bar cable to see if the problem is there.
This is the #1 thing I would do in an attempt to isolate the most likely source of the effect.
Let us know what happens.
