Make sure that your RAM modules and Cmos battery are securely seated

on some motherboards Cmos batteries are soldered in.

Test all power and data leads that attach from Motherboard to your Hard Drive SATA

Make sure they have a secure dust free connections.

Check the graphics card is seated properly with no dust in the socket you might have to remove it to check for dust reinstall it.

Restart your computer the found new hardware wizard should activate.Hope this helps.

If you are not that technical then I am afraid that you can do any thing to solve this problem. Sounds Like there is a problem with your Screen, You can check connecting External Monitor through VGA cable to your laptop and see whtr you are still getting the same problem. I will suggest you to take your laptop to repairing center before you may damage it more:) Don't mind.

Hello pikeydad. I you don't have the owner's password I suggest you download something called Hiren's Boot here:http://www.hirensbootcd.net/download/Hirens.BootCD.10.4.zip
burn it on a CD and then boot from it and under Recovery Menu use the "Active Password Changer".
Once you remove the administrator's password (the owner's) logg in to the computer go to start-control panel- user accounts. You have to add you son's account and then log in under your's account. Then go back to start - control panel - user accounts and then click on the owner's account and click delete. You can delete the account only and keep the owner's files or delete the account and files completely.

The fan is located in the bottom of the laptop. You just have to take out the screws in the bottom remove the bottom panel and there should only be 2 or 3 screws holding it in.

the problem is that either your pc lens is dirty or it is bad.try this technic eject your cdrom you will see a circular glass at the center clean it carefully with a cotton wool or a dry cloth and test it with a cd if it will play if it does't, you will need to change the lens

To Recover your system from within Windows
1. Click on Start, then All Programs, then Acer Empowering Technology.
2. Click on Acer eRecovery Management.
3. If prompted to create a password, create the password and hint
Do not lose this password.
If asked for a password, enter the previously set password.
4. When the Acer eRecovery Management loads click the button labeled Restore.
5. Click on Restore system to factory default.
6. The unit will restart and start the restore.
It should state "Please wait a moment..." with the Acer logo in the upper left hand corner.
7. At the eRecovery Management menu it will ask you how to restore.
Click on the restore option you would like to use.

To recover your system from bootup
1. Locate the Alt key, to the left of the space bar, and F10, on the top row of keys.
2. Power the system on.
3. When the system is powered on, tap the Alt and F10 keys together at the same time when the Acer splash screen appears.
It should state "Please wait a moment..." with the Acer logo in the upper left hand corner.
4. At the eRecovery Management menu it will ask you how to restore.
5. Click on the restore option you would like to use.

Unplug computer>power down> remove battery>remove all screws on exterior housing> remove internal screws> disconnect the wire/cable from keyboard>remove keyboard.
