The original poster has probably long since tossed the thing, but since I just had to spend time wrangling with one of these, I thought I'd post a reply anyway, for the sake of anybody else who may have to deal with one.

It turns out that this player will happily switch modes to whatever the current driver is looking for. So with the player attached, just go to Device Manager, to "GPX audio player" , to the "Driver" tab, and the "Update driver" button. Choose "Specific Location" on this screen, and "Manually Choose" on the next. There should be two drivers listed here, "MTP Device" and "USB mass storage device", choose the "USB mass storage device". If it complains, tell it yes, I want to install it anyway.

Once it finishes, the players screen should flash off for a moment, and it will reboot itself in USB mode. And then windows will detect two usb drives.

This was in XP Pro SP2.

Windows Media Player says that my ML638B is full but it’s actually empty. How do I fix this problem?

If this problem occurs then your ML638B needs to be formatted.

1. Connect your ML638B to your computer with Windows XP or later.
2. By default your computer will recognize ML638B as GPX MTP Device. Press the POWER button from top of your ML638B, to change it to USB mode connection. You will also see USB on the screen of ML638B.
3. ML638B will now mount 2 drives, one as Tools (as CD-Drive) and second as Removable Disk (Drive) – under My Computer on your Windows Desktop.
4. Right click your mouse and then select the Format option. When the Format Removable Disk window appears select the Start button to start formatting your MP3 player.

Deleting Files,Pictures,Videos,Audio Books, etc. from MP3 Player
Hook up your mp3 player to your computer Go to your desktop and double left click on "My Computer" When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there. Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on "Open" and now your files/songs should be visible. Hold the left click down and drag it across all the files/songs that you do not want this will highlight the files/songs you do not want, release, right click and then click on "Delete" Now you mp3 player should be clear of the files/songs you do not want. Be careful and do not delete files needed to operate your MP3 player. Good Luck, I hope this helps Please rate me, Thank You
