My tv has sound but

When troubleshooting these units, there are always several variables to consider. First check to see what last occurred with the unit such as did the children play video games, did the electricity go out due to bad weather. You may see that there are many possibilities but let's focus on what occurred last to the unit. Once we determine what happened last, we may isolate the actual cause of the problem. The actual cause may be associated with projection issues, older versions (Picture tube), interference from devices located nearby, and even a radio turned on and located really close to your unit. This is normally known as electromagnetic interference to electronics and is very common with the error you have provided today. Please continue to look for anything EXTERNAL to the unit before looking at the internal components. I have been working on these a long time so feel free to follow up with me.

I was away on holiday

Hi,

Disconnect the power supply for few minutes, say 15 minutes ( by unplugging the power cord from the outlet ) and turn it on after that. If the problem persists, try to plug it in a different power outlet. If you have a surge protector, remove that and plug the TV directly to the outlet. If the problem still persists, it would confirm an internal error and needs repair.

Try to wiggle with power cord and see,if that helps. If not, kindly revert with more details :-

1. How old the unit is?
2. Is there any power surge?
3. Is there any sequence of the blinks ( power LED )?

Let me know,so that we could proceed.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Lg plasma 42PC3D no picture with sound

I know you already replaced the board, this is for future searchers. If you heard a popping sound, then the picture went out, there is a 32 pin Sanyo module that goes bad on the board. That's probably what caused the fuse to blow. Replace the module, then replace the fuse. The module is less than half the cost of a used board. Since this was a popular model TV, there are lots of replacement boards on the used market.

My 42 inch plasma lg. has a redish tint when I

Hello
If you can see the red tint with every input source and also in the On-Screen Menu, then this indicates that the Green phosphor is burning off of the screen faster than the Red and Blue. This is typical of plasma screens. Even if you dont watch a lot of golf or football, green is the most dominent color and burns out of the phosphur pits(pixels) faster than the Red and Blue. Take away green, you are left with Reddish looking screen and Pink whites. This is not repairable.
If the Menu looks nice and white, check your source cables.

Good luck

More likely to be Z sustain board. You need to check the caps and fuses on these 3 boards: power supply, Z and Y sustain boards first. Please read the training manuals also.

If you remove the back, you probably will find a couple electrolytic caps that are bulged, and need replace on the power supply module. and that should take care of your problem, or you can buy a new one at www.partstore.com.

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companies Philips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$??????? (Is it under warranty?)

Remember, TVs CONTAIN HIGH VOLTAGE AND CAN KILL YOU! Do this at your own risk.

2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cord plugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found online. I would definitely shop around though.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

This may be your problem. If you determine that it might be.

I have a Tip/How TO tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. Here is the Link: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm working on uploading pictures to help guide people though the process as well. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Hope this helps and if it does please rate it accordingly. Good luck.

Broken screen

Hello Sir, Hi, the screen is broken, I'm afraid that is it for your TV. getting a replacement screen is near the cost of a new TV. You can still sell the TV or auction it on ebay for additional cash, sell its electronic parts such as power supply and main board as surplus goods. Its better this way. Next time protect your screen with LCD protectors or go to a glass shop to buy safety glass, as a cover for your NEW TV.

I have a LG 42PC3D.

It sounds like you may have a Y sustain board failure. If you open the set, the large board to your left is the Y sustain. Most of them have part numbers on the board and you can order it from a LG supplier or LG them selves. 1800-243-0000
