Acer Aspire 5600 Series 5630-6951 Laptop - Page 5 Questions & Answers
Hi,
We have the Acer
Your best bet is to go to acers website and submit a repair request. Then you can send it to them in the mail and they will send it back to you.
Is there any way to brighten my screen on my acer
Examine the keyboard. There should be a symbol on most of the function keys (F1, F2, etc.). Look for one that looks like a sun or lightbulb, either with an arrow pointing up or with the sun/lighbulb filled in. Hold the 'Fn' key, and tap the up/bright sun/lightbulb key a few times. The screen should increase in brightness.
If you cannot find the specified keys, you may be able to adjust brightness from inside Windows. Right click on the battery icon in the taskbar and open 'power options'. Look for a sun and moon with a sliding bar between them. You might also be able to adjust brightness by customizing your desktop (right click on the desktop and look for the proper menu).
Cracked screen
I used AnyPCfixed.co.uk in Leicester, he charges fitted what you'd pay for the screen alone, and can fit new or recon from £140. PC World wanted £300+. It's probably not that hard to replace once you've done several.
Cannot find where to turn
The WiFi switch is on the front of the Laptop as you are looking at it, it will be just to the left of the right speaker.
See the diagram on page 16 of the manual. http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/notebook/0000/Acer/Aspire5600/Aspire5600ul.shtml
Web cam is not working
You need to reinstall your Web cam's drivers.
If you have the drivers on a cd, reinstall them,
if
you dont have them, visit Acer's website, www.acer.com and go to the
"Drivers and Support" page, enter your laptop model and the operating
system you are using, then download the web cam drivers (Acer Crystal
Eye) and install.
That should solve your problem.
Thank you for using Fixya,
Kenneth
Very slow, freezes, jams, and
This sounds like either a hard drive problem, when you power on the laptop there should be an option to enter BIOS or Setup (usually F2) once inside of the BIOS you should be able to run a diagnostic. and that will tell you if there is anything wrong with the hardware. If everything passes that test. you may have some serious Virus problems.
I have an Acer Aspire
The message is the laptops way of saying that it has looked for an operating system and could not find one. The PXE rom message refers to it trying to find a network boot record.
Test this by checking your Bios settings, in the boot order, see that the CDRom is set to 1st boot, then the second bot is the HDD, If the thing will not boot. Check you can see that the laptop "sees" the boot devices, if it does not, you have a problem, as it looks like the controllers are damaged.
If it Does find the boot devices, but it still defaults to a network boot, there is either NO OS on the hard drive, or it has been corrupted.
Use the Vista DVD to re-install Windows (you may be lucky enough to get away with a repair installation), after you have reinstalled windows, the drivers etc can be found on Acer's site quite easily
Where is the wireless button
If there isn't a small button on your laptop, then see if any button on your laptop has a "blue-ish" colored icon that might be Wireless. Pressing FN and that button should activate it.
Are there any keyboard key
The wireless switch should be on the front, under the latch of the lid
If the keyboard has a wireless key, Acer usually uses the icon of a satellite.
Tell me where the audio
Hi
Please have a look over on the bottom right hand side of the keyboard and there may be
a up and down key for the volume so press the FN key plus the up volume key FN+volume key
or just maybe the F8 key may of been accidently pressed
Hi there.
I have an Acer
You need to replace the DVD reader or use an external one, and obtain a windows install CD. Enter your model number on the acer website to get all of the required drivers. Obtain the drivers and put them on a CD before reformatting as you will not have the wifi drive to go get the drivers if you try and get the drivers after you format.
