try to reset ur printer. first off ur printer and take off the jack,just hold the grin light then plug the jack,and also hold the red light den move your fingers in the grin and red light

if the error you see something like this E16... just press the reset button and calour,black button in the same time until the error gone,,,//....

waste ink absorber error message can sometimes be solved by resetting the printer itself. i havent yet tried in ip1880 but in ip1200, th e resetting method is this: (it might also work on other models)
1. unplug the power cord and the data cable(printer to pc) 2. while press-holding the (printer) power button plug the power cable (do not release printer power button until step 3) 3. press 'resumet' ( the button below the power button of the printer) button twice... 4. release the power button 5. connect the usb cable of the printer to the pc... - a new canon printer shall be found in the list of printers. use it as default printer

Canon tells you to unplug the machine without the head in for 30 minutes. Replug into outlet and cross fingers./ If that does not work you may need a new printer

1. remove cartridges
2. unplug AC power
3. hold power button and plug AC power (keep holding power button.
4. press resume 4 times
The waste ink counter should be reset by now

are you using genuine inks? if so then I suspect a faulty printer, if your using refilled inks then the counter on the cartridges has probably kicked in, you would need to press & hold the button with a circle and triangle on it in for around 10 seconds, this overrides the software designed to stop you using your refilled inks.

check the plastic disk around the white gear if some of its micro lines were wipe out. if so, then, no choice you'll have to replace it. so do with that plastic holding the printer head across. there are microlines also with it. just check.
