Ploom of smoke no screen
Hello; I think this is the same or similar model of my other post. There are 2 capacitors that go bad and when they do they spray out a vapor that looks like smoke! This set uses a very poor design. They
are stacking two 450 volt cap to get a 900 volt rating needed in this
circuit. This practice was used decades ago, but only with VERY high
quality caps that are closely matched ALONG with stabilization resistors
to keep the voltage drop even between the 2 caps. Polaroid uses cheap
unmatched caps and even WORSE no stabilization resistors. Shame on you
Polariod. At least one cap is bad, but they MUST both be replaced with
high quality MATCHED caps. There is an 80% chance that these are your
problem, but with NO WARANTY. If you have no way of soldering and
testing, send it to me with $37 to cover parts, testing caps and return
shipping. You must call first 207 998 5687 est. No weekend hours, but OK
9-5 est. Good luck, John

Screen went black but still
We need to roubleshoot it first.
First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board.
if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having.

Goodafternoon, power comes on with
Hello,
First you need to understand that there is a problem inside the unit that is why you got the flicker and the black screen. Most likely causes are a bad lamp, bad t-com board or a bad capacitor inside the unit.
Either ways, have the television unplugged, assess the main panel for any bad capacitors, if any found, then replace it with a new one, if you do not find any faulty capacitor, then assess the lamp to see if it is faulty, if it is, then you have to replace it, if the lamp does not seem faulty, then you will have to check the t-com board and replace it if it happens to be the faulty component.
To know if a capacitor or a lamp is bad, all you have to look out for is if the capacitor is swollen or looking burnt, and for the lamp all you have to look out for is if it has a leak or is broken or looks burnt.
Take care and good luck

On my 32' lcd flatscreen i removed the cable cord
Could be.Try using a dvd or vhs player into the A/V 1 input and then switch the input to same. That will make sure the video circuit is working. When you screw the cable connector on just do it hand tight, to many people use pliers and over tighten the connector then damage the tuner inside the set. Without the cable screwed into the set can you rotate the cable jack? If so, then the tuner needs to be repaired. Not a major job for a tech.

My polaroid 32 in lcd
This is a problem on the power board or gate-switch on main board which means a few components need replacing. If you rather just get another power/main board then go here:

From the looks of it, you have a bad backlight inverter board. With the tv on, focus a flashlight on the screen from a close distance. Keep changing the channels and see if you notice a faint image. If you do then its a confirmed backlight inverter related issue. Replacement costs about 50-75$ and with little care you can do it yourself as its a relatively easy repair, unless you have never worked on electronics before.

When you plug in the set the red light goes on.
Hi,
Do you get sound in tv whilst there is no picture?
Problem seems with power supply board that is not providing correct/ enough voltage supplies to other circuits in tv so it can work.
If you are familiar with electronics stuff repair and can measure output voltage of power supply with multimeter then check output volts at output connectors, volts rating would be written near these connectors. If voltages are not available then replace power supply board.
If you feel uncomfortable doing so, ask local tv repairman for help.
Hope these info will help you.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

Red outlines in the picture, kind of like 3 d.
You have bad convergence ICs. They are located on the mainboard attached to a large aluminum heat sink. The numbers on them should be of the form STK392-XXX. When you locate them note the number and go to
www.encompass.com and order two. One is for horizontal and one is for vertical. Remove the old ICs from the board and install the new ones. Solder wick or a puller is helpful during the removal. Be careful not to get the units too hot. You will need a good gun with a good conical tip. Once the ICs have been replaced and the unit is up and running you will need to set the convergence to align the beams. You should be familiar with this, if not the procedure should be outlined in your operations manual. If this was the only problem your unit should now look fine. While you have it apart you should clean the lenses and the mirror with a soft lint free cloth and window cleaner. Always spray the cloth, never spray inside the TV. If the lines still will not converge you have a bad digital control box. Detailed intructions for removal and replacement of the digital box are located at my tip "How to replace a Projection TV digital control box". Let me know if you need anymore help.

Sounds like the t.v. has been subjected to a drop or hard impact, usally means that there is a ripped/lose ribbon cable or the vertical channel has been destroyed, you might try unplugging it for a few mins and see if that helps
