you may have the tv hooked up to a cable or satelite box that has it's own built in aspect ratio that is set on stretch or zoom.

DVD's will not load or play.
the DVD player is the problem, if its under warranty, call polaroid and they will send you the replacement one, it only takes on screw to remove the unit and slip the new one in. I had the same problem last year and it took them about a week to get me the part, all they ask is you send back the other one in 30 days or they will charge you for it.

POLOROID LCD with no picture
According to polaroid the backlight and lcd panel are the same component, I thought I had a similar problem and bought a new screen from them only to find out it was the control box, and they want another 200 dollars for it. So I have a reconditioned 32inc lcd screen for sale if your interested, its still in the box,

Dvd stuck in the dvd / tv
I had this same problem and fixed it too. It was from a flat torsion spring on the loading mechanism that had moved position. It hits against the chassis of the DVD housing preventing the mechanism from seating the disk on the spindle. Result is a stuck disk and/or constantly running loading motor.
Remove the one black machine screw behind the DVD player. DVD player will slide out of TV with its black plastic trim fascia from bay.
Remove two screws that hold fascia panel, remove fascia and lift off top metal cover.
With CD loading slot facing you, the problem spring (in our situation) was at the left. Also identical spring on the right side too. These are the two torsion springs near the front on sides of chassis. The helical loop on the left should be towards the top. If it shifted to the bottom, it can hit the tab with screw used to secure DVD chassis. When this happens, CD loading mech can't complete loading disk onto the spindle. If spring flips when the CD is on the spindle.... disk can't eject.
I used a pair of tweezers to gently grab the spring and "flip" it upwards by pulling it upwards. Spring will work for mechanism in up or down position, but needs to be up to avoid interence.
Solved my problem and DVD has been great since. If it flips back for some reason, then I will try attaching a small piece of plastic to the side of the chassis to contain spring in upright position only.

If your LCD is less then a year old, still under manufacturers warranty.
The
solution at this point would be to get the power supply repair since new boards are not longer being manufactured or hard to find. In about 95% of the time if the LCD doesn't power up or turns OFF by itself or need to be unplug for some time to make work again; those are the
symptoms of a dying or defective power
supply.
I service these power supplies, for more info write to

Internal DVD
hi if your dvd driving belt is slack, it wouldnt be able to draw the door to a position where it will press the loading switch, so it will eject back. 2. if your dvd laser lens is dull or too dirty or dead it might be making attempts to load severally.if the disc driving motor is bad, the tray can be open & close many time without a success
