Try this....with the TV off put a hair dryer in the back lower fins of the TV and let it run on high for about 5 mins, shut the hair dryer off and see if the set comes on the way it should..If it does I'll tell you how to fix it, if it doesn't I've got some other ideas but want you to try this first

Your TV is LED backlite so there won't be a backlight inverter, those were only used on sets with CCFL backlilghts. As far as what's wrong with the set...it could be several things, this model and series set was known for EEPROM failure, unfortunately this is an all in one set, with the power and main board as one board so it's harder to service. Another issue could be failed led backlights.

Your TV might of had died on you guys and has stopped working too. Or it could be a power supply problems. It would be more cheaper to purchase another TV than to try and repair the current TV that is no longer working.

You did not post the model number to see what parts can be purchased whole. However, unless you can solder and have basic skills in disassembly of electronics, it would not be possible to make a component level repair on the unit. There is either bad capacitors that are allowing too much ripple current into the boad or the back lights are drawing too much power
