Westinghouse 1080P 42" LCD TV - HDMI stopped working

I know this is late, but this happens frequently. If anyone else has the same problem try unplugging the TV for 60 seconds. Plug it back in and then hold the power button down for 30 seconds. That will reset the TV.
You should see the Westinghouse logo come up and the HDMI should work. This has happened twice with my TV in 1 year.

Won't nothing but the westinghouse logo come up when i cut it on

Chances are it is the main board that needs worked on. You should find one of these part numbers on the board, this set has different versions on the main board due to different panels that were put in during production. 55.3YT01.001G 55.3YV01.001G 55.3YV01.011G 55.3YV02-D01G 55.3YV10.004G 55.70E01.001G 55.70E01.011G 55.70E01.021G 55.70E10.001G

Westinghouse tv turns on power light blue works for 3 minutes then turns orange

This is going to be associated with your inverter or your display board. Some cases they are the same board. You will have to take this apart, find the board and then find a replacement.

ZENITH HDMI STOP WORKING

The solution posted above by geomach7 worked perfectly. This tv is pretty much a huge monitor with a tiny computer in it. Usually when your computer messes up a restart will fix it, this tv is no different. 1. Unplug both the TV and HDMI media source (in my case, my PS3.) 2. Wait 30 seconds. 3. Plug in the TV and turn it on (via remote okay). 4. Wait for the Westinghouse logo to come on, then disappear. 5. Plug in the PS3. 6. Turn the PS3 on. This sequence fixed the problem for me. Hope it helps, thank you so much geomach7 you're awesome you saved me hours of worry!

Westinghouse model tx-42f430s won't power on

That problem is usually have 2 causes..Its either power supply board or main board..Please take this steps on how to determine the problem:1. Open the back cover.2. Check the power supply output...It should have 5vdc for the main board..12vdc or 16vdc for the audio and 24vdc for the back-light inverter..3. If those 3 voltage supplies have encountered voltage drop...The problem could be on power supply board..4. If the power supply output is normal..The problem could be on the main board...5. If the problem is power supply you should check if the capacitors are bulged on the top and try to replaced it..If you can't do that you can purchased new power supply board..6. If the problem is on main board there is no D.I.Y repair on that so you need to buy a new main board that fits to your TV..Hope this solution will be helpful..Thanks for using fixya...

Can't get local channels even though it is hooked up to an antenna

You may need to elevate the height of the antenna or verify the wire connections. If you have done that, try another convertor.

Tx42f430s no power

Hi,

Here are some basic steps that will help you fixing the problem.

I'm assuming that your unit is dead set without an standby LED light and your outlet is live.1.Power cord - check the cord it might be opened (no continuity). This is due to frequent bending, pulling. 2. Power switch - check for dry joints, open contact. 3.Check the internal fuse- sometimes the fuse fail because of the power surge, replacing with new one will cure the problem, If this is the case I would advice you to use surge protector/AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator). However if the fuse blew again this is an indication that you have a shorted parts in the power supply, you may visit the linkhttp://www.fixya.com/support/r8053361-fuse_keeps_blowing for more info. If no reaction and still the unit didn't power up then you have an open parts on the power supply.

4.If you see that the fuse is intact , don't attempt to touch anything because there some fatalcomponents stored electricity enough to hurt you with a simple mistake only. I would advice you to look for a professional to troubleshoot the power supply. If you want to repair it yourself make sure that you have necessary tools and test instrument. First check bad solder joints(re-solder all cold solder), leaky electrolytic capacitor(sometimes it has bulged at the top but not all, you better have a capacitor checker), open/shorted regulator transistor/IC(mounted in heat sink), open fusible resistor (caused by shorted regulator Transistor/IC), shorted zener diode.

You may also replace the power supply board, try online or your nearest Westinghouse Service Center.

Also check if your unit is under warranty before opening the back panel, it will void the warranty. Avail it because the manufacturer of your unit will fix it for free or a little charge only.

Have a great day and good luck!

MWe have one of these

I had the exact problem and couldn't do the factory reset or another reset that a Westinghouse tech told me to do over the phone - BUT I FIXED IT! This is what I did. With the TV facing me and power on and connected to my cable antenna (like normal - ready to watch TV) I took my right hand and started pressing all different buttons on the side of the TV in different order at random. All of a sudden the big W came on the screen so I called back Westinghouse technical assistance and she told me go to menu - then TV - then scroll down to channel search. Since all my cable channels are on channel 3 on the TV - the search found that channel and the picture and sound came on and works fine!

Turned on sound coming through, but screen showing

Hello,

All Plasma and LCD TV have boards that control vertical and horizontal output to their respective areas. They are connected to the screen by ribbon cables. If one of these boards fails all together, has a failed chip, a bad connection, or a bad ground somewhere it will result in a black line in the area of that board. A bad ribbon cable connection on the bottom will result in a vertical black bar though the screen. Many times resetting the connection will fix it, if the ribbon cable has been nicked there could be a severed connection. They an sometimes be fixed, but it is a pain. An yes I have done it, but the bar is gone. The same will happen if the chip that outputs to that area opens. The connectors are the first place to look paying close attention to the cable, they are extremely delicate so great care must be taken if you decide to tinker with em, the usually have lift locks that release them.

Hoping this will help in solving the problem...

Westinghouse HDTV TX42F430S, No picture or sound.

From where do you get the 3 volts to feed the master inverter board?
Have you measure all the voltages from the power supply to the main board?
Since the screen is ON when applying the 3.3 volts and the CCFL lights are ON, the backlight inverter boards and the CCFL lights are working. At this point there could be a LCD controller inverter board failure but if that is the case, you could still have audio but no video.
I have the module from a TX47F430S that had a broken screen, the 42 and 47 inches use the same parts.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

Try this site for a used keyboard controller (minimal usage) http://www.shopjimmy.com/westinghouse-55-3yv03-001g-keyboard-controller.htm to replace one that has failed. If you need the shield and the buttons, I'm unaware of any sources.

For a better match to the parts in your TV, open the TV and record the part number of the board you need to replace. Google the part number. Many boards are used in multiple brands of TVs and may be listed under another brand or model.

I hope this helps.

The westinghouse tv i have

Hello Jimdavis78, based on the symptoms you are providing it sounds like you will need to replace one or both the inverters. The inverter board (in this case two) are responsible for providing power to the back light CCFL's. When one or both go out you can normally still hear the audio because the TV is still working because the power board, the main board, and the T-Con board are still functional but you cannot see the picture. This specific model has a master and a slave which you will need to have tested to see which of the two is failing. You can normally purchased these boards in online stores like www.shopjimmy.com, www.invertercentral.com, or simply place the part # on www.google.com and you will see multiple online stores that will carry these parts. You will need to open the TV's back cover, once that is taken off you will see two long green boards located on the left and right of the panel, the one to your left (TV facing down) is the master while the other is the slave. One way to test this is to turn the TV on, if you have a flash light place it directly on the screen, and you will normally see a picture (please note you must have a source connected to the TV like cable, or antenna). Please rate my answer if this was helpful.

Let verify first to narrow down to where the problem can be. First, make sure the MUTE or SAP function is not activated, then check the on screen sound set up menu to make sure the speakers are not set to OFF. If the setting is OK, then attach the powered PC speakers to the Audio Line out RCA jacks (Red and White) to see if you can get the sound there, if you do, then the problem can be in the power amp circuits, if you do not get the sound at RCA jacks, then the problem can be in the sound processor circuit. Please post back what you find.
