Is there a reset for picture on a vizio 42" flat
Hi Bernard,To my knowledge there is no video reset short of unplugging the AC cord and waiting about 10 minutes then plugging the power cord back in.The other thing to try is check the source button on your remote and see if its on the correct input.Hope this helpsBruce
Vizio 42in.Plasma no picture
Make sure you're in the TV mode. I have a friend who purchased a new plasma TV and 4 months later complained that it had no picture. I turns out that she somehow accidentally pressed some mode button on the corner of her remote control that took it into some auxillary mode for an external accessory device, thereby causing the screen to black out. If it's in the TV mode and you're not getting a picture, it may need to be serviced.

Good morning There two things that are worth trying. Firstly: check if there are local interferances such as an electric appliance orpower tool.Secondly: check the antenna and aim it in the right direction.best of luckkollagunn

hi,
Your tv has problem with its back light inverter stage. All LCD TV have back light to illuminate the pixels. There are two types of back lighting CCFL(Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) and LED. In your tv its ccfl. As it is ccfl it need a high voltage above 1000v. To provide such a high voltage there will be an inverter stage in all lcd tv with ccfl back lighting. Normally in LCD tvs there will be three boards such as Mother board , Back light inverter board, and power supply.
In your tv the ccfl back light inverter stage is faulty. There will in inverter transformers in the inverter board. As it is high voltage transformer there is possibility of its winding get shorted. If so it will drain a high current from the power supply and the protection circuit will shut down the voltage to the inverter board. check the inverter board first. Also there is possibility of bad electrolytic capacitors in the inverter board will lead to this type of problem.
First of all check the supply voltage from the power supply to the inverter board. Change the electrolytic capacitors in the inverter board and in the power supply stage. If the problem is not rectified then you have to replace the inverter board.

This sounds like the tripler for the lcd display, or a capacitor in the power supply board blew. You can replace them yourself if you can indentify the bad part(s), but this will require some disassembly to get at them, of course.
My suggestion would be to get a mobile repairman out to fix it. Many towns have them these days, and they will come to your place to fix it, and they're reasonable.
You can google "Tripler replacement" and get some information on it, if you elect to try to repair it yourself.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

sadly no.
either your panel has been hit and damaged or the panel itself is failing.
without some sort of warranty coverage, your repair cost would exceed the price of replacement.
I have a Vizio LCD
Hi, vertical lines when the television is on may be related to issues with the television's screen resolution. Resolutions set higher than 1280 by 720 can create visual disturbances on the screen. You can reset the resolution through the control panel's display settings menu. This should correct the issue immediately, although you may need to power the television off and then on again in some cases..
I need to know where on the display or remote
Enter the on-screen menu by pressing Menu. Use the Vol+/Vol- buttons on the TV or the left/right arrows on the remote to select the Audio Adjust (second line) sub-menu. Use the Ch+/Ch- buttons on the TV or the up/down arrows on the remote to go to the line labeled Speakers (bottom of the list). Use the left/right arrows to toggle the internal speakers On or Off. Then press OK to save and press Exit to exit the OSD.
With your receiver/amplifier for your speaker system turned on, follow the directions for that unit to finish setting up the connection.
I hope this helps.
