HI,

If sanyo plasma tv's LED blinks 12 times then you have 3 failed board
  • The Y main,
  • Upper Y buffer and the
  • Lower Y buffer.
Samsung built this set and the model of samsung this is based on has a recall but the sanyo version does not even though it is for the same issue.
The Y main fails and blows up both Y buffer board, and here is the best part you have to change if you dont change all three at the same time they will blow themselves right back up because the short is on the main B+ line which drives all three boards... so when you power it if any one has a failure they all fail.....

Here are the part numbers
Ymain: 996500032643 ($311)
Upper: 996500032640 ($110)
Lower:996500032639 ($89)

These are the Philips part number replacement but the Sanyo originals from sanyo are around $40 more for each board.

I am sure it is coming from the Y's because on everyone of these i have worked on 12 flashes has ment the same thing.

Hope this helps
Please leave me comment if you need further asistance

Clicking noise is usually produced by a shorted load or overloaded SMPS (power supply), black screen as you had mentioned may contribute to a short circuited load.Check voltages (secondary) might be pulsing from high to low that sync the clicking sound.Checking load resistance through filter capacitor will help a lot then try isolating circuit branches to localize the shorted or leaky parts.Try isolating(one at a time) the power supply's loads may help a lot.

push minue directly on tv and seif that works. try to see if you can get it out of that mode. you might need the origanal remote. try search on the remote control may work

I am a military spouse and our same tv did the same thing on Super Bowl Sunday 2009! We did everything we know to do: call the company, called the repair man, etc. There apparently isn't a solution to this that wouldn't cost more than the tv is worth. So I got an attorney to start a class action:

I see so many here with no sound/nopicture issues:

ISSUES:

1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.
2. If no power or standby check main fuse, standby power supply and any signsof damage you can see---burnt parts etc.
3. almost all these sets the troubleshooting involves checking voltages on the main power board to narrow down theproblem.
4. Be safe and if you do not know what you are doing don't open the set.

Answers to issues:

1. RE:fuses---if a blown fuse is found get a good replacement(not the genericones like Radio Shack). Many fuses are special even aside from amperage--Don'tput a higher rated amperage fuse in the set for any reason.

2. RE: power supply in set: if total dead aside from main fuse the set uses astandby power supply that runs 7/24 and a main supply (some are combined andsome not.

Here aside from checking fuses you want to examine all the filter caps on thepower/standby to see if any are puffed up or buldged up in some fashion--Iattach a photo of a good one---top should be silver metal and PERFECTLY flatand have no brown material coming out on top or bottom.

What happens in the standby area is they use caps with too low a voltage rating(saves money) which causes them to fail in a year or two---the standby runs7/24 and the heat dries out the caps and they fail.

3. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have to buyand try a board to see if it fixes it or not.

4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over.If set is opened at least look for puffed up and bad caps like in thisphoto.4_24_2012_12_39_49_am.jpg
