You can get free shared updates from the users when you install the Tom Tom Home Software, but to update the map with the TomTom approved information, you will have to pay, unfortunately. So far, the people-uploaded maps have helped me immensely, though.

Do you have a route planned?? I have the GO630 and there's a powersave feature built in that turns it off when not in use, though it will stay on if I have a route set or if I'm moving in the car and it's tracking my location.

I don't recommened you do this update, there is a fualt in the new program and it causes the GPS screen to freeze.

is the battery ok? they last approx 2 years.

Have same thing. I did call Tomtom and they are guessing ,just like me ,that battery is dead and offered me US$ 75 off brand new go 730 and old one u can keep. Was told ,they dont sell battery replacement .

Sounds like someone will sue their **** soon as class action .

Remove the SD card
The card needs to be formatted properly first that's all,
　
formatting is better done in a card reader.
　
Right click on it and select format select FAT32 as the files system
　
Now connect the tomtom but don't let tomtom home run. exit TTH if need be.
　
You now ned to select your tom tom which will also show as a drive.
　
In windows explorer select tools then folder options. Click view and tick the box for "show hidden files and folders"
It may warn you but you can ignore it.
　
Then just copy ALL the files from the tom tom to your sd card
　
DO NOT USE CUT AND PASTE !
　
Once all the files are on switch off the tom tom and insert the sd card
　
It should now work

open mp3 file and totom music file and copy accross one song , close pages and shut down tomtom s/w , disconect from pc and turn on goto album that song should now be listed if it plays you will need to repeat procedure for the rest of songs not 1by1 but all.

change screen settings. here's how to; goto change pref, -safety pref- (ignore first screen)-done-- done--done--then it will come up with---turn off map display, select never option then done , you will also need to check to see if your screen saver option are set to slide show and turn these off as well.

try rest button on bottom of unit near to power strip connector , you will need a pin as the hole is tiny.

Hello there:
1. first refer to the useres manual if you still have it
2.Make sure that the power cord is in good condition and the fuse is not blown.
3. Double check all connections to ensure that there is good contact and not loose.
4. If you can get to the battery compartment remove the battery and check for the condition of the battery and the connections make sure they are all clean and are making good connection.
5. Now try to power up and press and hold in the reset for 2 minutes and then release and see if the unit will restart correctly.
if not i would contact a local tomtom dealer to have it bench tested. ok?

you dont say what you want to delete, normally put your device in the cradle provided and operate it from your pc/laptop.

This is usually an SD card issue. If you have one in then remove it and try again.

If there is no SD card involved then the other cause is that files may have been deleted or somehow corrupted.
In that case you would need to try and restore if you took a backup.
I have a spare card with my original tom tom software on there.

You could always try a HARD reset too !

HI I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, GREEN LIGhT ON BUT NOT SWITCHING ON.
I contacted tomtom and with in 2 weeks i have my original 910 back in full working order. AND I DIDN'T COST ME A PENNY.
My tomtom was an insurance replacement due to stupid little thieves, but i didn't have any form of a receipt. I contacted free and they went through the normal try resetting the device BUT HOLD DOWN THE RESET BUTTON FOR 30 SECONDS NOT THE 15 THEY STATE IN THEIR HELP SECTION. Done that and it DID SWITCH ON only for a about 1 min due to the battery not holding its charge. So they sent me all the packaging to return it to them, did ask that i put proof of purchase in but couldn't so just wrote a quick not saying insurance replacement but checked when i activated my device on my computer it was july 2006 so expected to a repair fee thinking it only had 1 years warranty but if you brought after Jan 2005 it has a 2 year warranty. Received it back today full working order and the battery replaced. Worth contacting TOMTOM number is on www.tomtom.com/368

if that doesnt work and u need to replace the battery... there is electronic cards one is two screw remove that and second one has four screw remve all and remove the sockets than you remove two more screws from under that after remove battery carefully this is little bit diffucult be carefull
