HP Photosmart C6180 All-In-One InkJet Printer - Page 2 - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Error code: 0xc18a0001
Hello,
This error code indicates that you have an 'Ink system failure'. The problem is caused by air the ink feed tubes. If you either use all of the ink down to 0% or you use poorly refilled ink cartridges it can cause the printer to **** air into the feed tubes instead of ink. We have a step by step guide to purge the feed tubes of air on our site at:
http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/category/printer-repair/ There are 2 different versions of the procedure find the one for your type printer and follow the guide and within about 10 minutes you will be printing again.
I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Printing PDF files
I had this problem after I had fixed a problem printing from Quicken. I was able to print from Quicken by changing the print option in Windows -- mine was set to "Spool documents" and I changed it to "Print directly from printer" -- the advice I was given was to change it from whatever it was set at to the other option. For printing a PDF file, I changed it back to "Spool documents" and it allowed me to print the PDF file. Try this and see if it works for you -- click the Windows Start button and select Settings, then Printers and Faxes. Right click on the selected printer and select Properties. In the properties window look for a setting to print directly to printer or spool documents -- mine was under the Advanced option. Try the option not currently selected -- in my case, I changed it back to Spool documents with Begin printing immediately -- and then try to print a PDF file. It looks like I will have to toggle back and forth when I am printing from Quicken and when I am printing a PDF file. Hope this works for you.
I have it set to print in black only but it uses
Hi,
On the printer driver, (after click "print" and the menu for selecting the printer appears and you can select the number of copies etc...go to"properties") .
Here go to the "Color" tab.. if you truly only want to use black ink, then select "Print in greyscale" and select "Black only". After that just Click "OK" at the bottom and "Ok" to print your job in truly just black ink. :)
Cheers,
Ed
