On the remote control on the top left corner a button marked i+ is there. Press it. This will eliminate the hdmi sign.

This tv have a dead board call the T-CON decoders board.This board sit right at the bottom at the middle of the LCD screen panel.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish T-CON decoders board for the replacement.

you need to replace the OPTICAL block the LCD CHIPS are starting to burn out and the line will start to get bigger and bigger

The symptom im afraid sounds like a defective panel. After the set has been on for several minutes say at least 10 minutes. Try giving it love taps... along the top of the tv where the bars are visible. If they get better or worse while tapping then your panel is failing. Replacing the panel usually cost more than buying a new set. If it has no effect what so ever then you could be dealing with a bad t-con board which is available at shopjimmy.com for around 60.00. GOOD LUCK!!!

Press Zoom button repeatedly on tv remote to get correct Screen Aspect Ratio that you want to see.

That is almost always an indication of main-board failure on these Bravia LCD's. Unfortunately this is a very difficult repair, and unless you are an electrician I would not recommend attempting it. You will need to contact a local TV repair person in your area. If you think it may still be under warranty please contact the manufacturer to file an RMA. If you happened to purchase the TV with a major credit card (not a debit card) there is a good chance it may still be under the free extended warranty most credit cards place on electronics. Please contact your credit card company to inquire if they do this, and they will be able to file the claim and get you a refund for the TV.

I have a 46 inch , Sony XBR 4 tv . The past week there has colored vertical lines that appear on the screen for about 10 minutes . Then they go away . What is the problem and solution?

Howdy, many of the Bravia line have a VGA cable input that matches the cable on your PC monitor. This cable is available in varying (too short) lengths from any electronics department or shop.

this is a real problem go to your dealer

go to dealer you have big problems

this tv is not good ( pixels go to your dealer

you can change this on your remote contol setting menu

go to your remote contol ( menu )
then you go to the option set up.
then you go to headphones and you can set the volume louder.
You will see that it works fine.

Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors.These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable,and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

TV will display what it is being fed with, the signal sources will tell what resolution the TV to display, just like your PC where you set the resolution at the PC not at the monitor.

First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board.
if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there are some troubleshoot you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having.

The wide button on your remote adjusts the picture size. Each time you press it you adjust the picture. If repeatedly pressing the wide button is not changing the picture size check you cable/satellite remote control. Look for the hdzoom# button. There may also be an aspect or format button. When you adjust this the picture size changes and between the Sony remote and the cable/satellite remote you should be able to come to a happy medium. If the picture size still isn't changing you might not be set to the correct resolution i.e. 1080i on your cable/satellite box. It might be set too low or you might be in the wrong input (av 1 av 2 hdmi 1 hdmi 2) etc.
