When i connect my Lacie

Remove the hard drive from the lacie box and plug it in directly to your computer to see if the drive is now recognized. If it is the issue is with the lacie box electronics. If still not recognized with a direct connection to computer, see if the bios sees it. If not, the logic board on hard drive is fubar and you have a serious recovery problem.

I accidentally formatted my La

Formatting a hard drive does not necessarily mean that you have erased the data on it. It basically takes away all of the bookkeeping functions such as the table of contents. You'll need to have some type of recovery program to be able to try and recover your data. If you drive came with it's own program try that first. Then you can try the recovery program built into Windows. If you can see a Recycle Bin for the drive you can choose Undelete from the menu you see when you right click on the bin. Don't specify any particular files, just tell the program to try and find any recoverable files. If this doesn't work for you then if you have any program like Norton Utilites, System Tune up, or any like that you can try and run their Undelete. If you don't have any program installed that has the Undelete feature then it is time to pick one up. Do some research on the web to see what is currently the best Undelete program available. GetDataBack is one of the best available. Be forewarned though; if you did a quick format the chances are good that you can retrieve a fair bit of your data. If you did a full format then it will be a lot more difficult to recover anything. None of the commercially available programs give you an absolute guarantee that they will recover your data. There are businesses that run much more powerful programs to recover info, however as you can guess they will not be cheap.

If oyu want to download to your computer, you will have to find a software utility or run an apple script to do so. If you are looking to back your computer up to your hard drive, syncing... you may want to looking into products like retrospect or chrono sync, though I am not sure if I understand your question? Is what you what to download from the internet? Or are you looking for a scheduled back up?

Hi,I think the problem is because mounting problem of the logical drive .In this case to access your data in the drive you just need a macbook hard drive recovery tool .Remove the drive from your pc install the drive in some other mac pc and start it in target mode .Install this recovery tool and start recovering files but save it in different healthy drive .I am suggesting this tool because it works good for my missing partition problem. But purchase the full version to get good results. The demo version link is here...

I have a 500GB hdd

Roshan, It sounds like the drive may be failing. So the first thing to do is determine the condition of the drive. You can check if there are problems with the drive using the free trial version of http://www.hdtune.com/

If it checks out ok then you can try to recover your data with Recuva it's free http://www.piriform.com/recuva

Or if you need data recovery help this a good choice for low cost and fast data recovery. All data recovery work is performed remotely over the Internet from a boot cd that you download and the best part is they just ask for donations if you are happy with the results: http://FreeDataRecovery.us

Hi wpollock1276
What you are suggesting is technicaly impossible , you have accomplished an irreversible operation . There is a tiny possibility you could retrieve your overwritten files by using this recovery program : http://www.any-data-recovery.com/product/index.htm
It's not free but very efficient . Note : overwritten files are hardly impossible to recover . Warning : please , do not attempt to delete whatever is currently on the drive or / and do not format it .

My hard drive does not power on. I was wondering

You could probably take it into a local shop and have them get the data off. This would be the quickest way but may be expensive. Cheers!
