The problem with the HP Pavilion dv2000, Pavilion dv6000, and Pavilion dv9000 series; is inadequate cooling for the graphics chipset. The metal heatsink area on the Cooling Tube, is too small in surface area.Chip and Chipset are slang terms for I.C.Integrated Circuit,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integrated_CircuitThe I.C, or chipset used for graphics is the graphics chipset, or more properly known as the G.P.U.Graphics Processing Unit,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPUThe GPU is an Nvidia 7400 G0,http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3480http://www.ebay.com/itm/nVIDIA-Geforce-GF-Go7400-N-A3-G72M-GPU-BGA-IC-Chipset-/360441880624?pt=US_Memory_RAM_&hash=item53ec02a030The mounting to the motherboard is with a BGA surface mount.Ball Grid Array. The bottom of the graphics chipset has Solder Balls. The mating area on the motherboard has matching Copper Pads, and they are gold plated. The graphics chipset is set into place with the Solder Balls, lining up on the matching Copper Pads; and heat is applied at a specific temperature, and length of time. This action melts the Solder Balls, and solders the graphics chipset TO the motherboard.Due to the constant overheating the solder connections (joints) made, are partially melted. Then when the laptop is turned off the graphics chipset cools down, and the solder joints re-solidify.This causes Cold Solder Joints, and a poor contact of graphics chipset to motherboard. The solution is to add more surface area, to the small metal plate of the Cooling Tube, that sits on the graphics chipset.Plus reflow the solder joints for the graphics chipset.BEST, and surety of repair; of reflowing the graphics chipset's solder joints; is to use a BGA Rework Station.Watch a BGA Rework Station at work, and also view more information about the BGA surface mount,http://ersa.com/art-ir-pl-650-346-1472.html This is one tech's procedure for the above. As far as I can tell, Windows Update from the Device Manager should find the appropriate driver. There are no Firewire drivers for this laptop on the HP site for any listed OS
Go to the Device Manager, right click on the device. Then click either Update Driver or choose Properties, the drivers tab and the Update driver button. Do create a system restore point first just in case. You can also uninstall the driver, reboot the computer and let Windows find the driver when it finds new hardware. Please note an additional step may be needed if you do not have Windows Update set to automatically install. (The step is opening Windows Update and manually installing the waiting driver update.)
If the screens are 6 individual screens you have a software problem
Go on any one of the screens and hit the Right mouse/touch-pad button to get into screen software
The selection is limited so you may want to read blogs and tech threads by using web searches to learn how to find the manufacturers of drivers through your "Device Manager"
You operating system is corrupted and needs to repair or reinstall the operating system. But I suggest just run the repair mode.
If your windows 7 installation disc is not working, it means the Windows 7 installer DVD is not working properly, maybe the DVD have too much scratches or due to bad copy of installer DVD, (it is not working in CD, use DVD) try to use other Windows 7 installation disk and surely it will run the Windows 7 DVD set up menu.
Does the video problem occur when connected to an external monitor?
If it does then unfortunately the most likely cause is either:
1. Bad memory modules, try pulling memory chips and rotating between slots to see if any change. If necessary replace faulty memory modules.
2. there is a very large number of these HP/Compaq models that have serious problems with the Video BGA chip coming unseated from the mainboard over time.
This can be repaired by reflowing the BGA chip, but is an involved process, and not for a standard user.
Otherwise the mainboard will need to be replaced.
Try going to the website finding your problem or isssue and then click for a live chat. I was able to get a direct link along with instructions how to fix a registry problem that has been plaguing my computer since the second day after I unknowingly made an accidental delete. HP does have good "live chat" customer support - typing with no accent ..... could be anywhere, but I don't care so long as it works to fix a problem. It did for me .... to my surprise and shock, PERFECTLY!
yep ..this is happening when the computer installs another driver for it ..it may actually work in some way but for certain it do not have all the functions ..and you not have to download the driver for it ..cause all drivers are already buit in for these devices..so in the possibility that you was under a n attack from a virus..you better reinstall the operating system and this will fix al issues too ...Im telling yo this cause lately a virus was aroound that send itself via the instant messaging programs and affected the disk drives..including the partitions ..and the way that manifest itself was by changing the drivers on the dvd /cd unit ..and dont let you open the hdd partition on double click ..I suggest if something like that is on ...to reinstall fast and do not think twice cause it will be next on your hardware ..I lost a HDD and a ram memory unit on this virus..already ..
