Gateway GM5442 PC Desktop Questions & Answers
Support 2 Monitors?
Most new graphics cards would allow you to use at least 2 monitors, but don't forget to make sure that your power supply can handle the extra wattage that GPUs can demand.

We had a power failure in the office this weekend. All the systems are back
up and running fine, except for the receptionists. It's a Gateway
Professional Series. P4 1.3 Ghz. It is giving me three beeps. No boot up
screen and no video source (monitor light stays yellow instead of turning
green). I looked up the beep code and it says three beeps means the ram
needs reseated. Which I have done several times. Also, I have just put in
one stick in difference seats. I have also reseated all the cards at least
three times. I have switched the jumper to try to boot into setup mode.
Nothing there either. Popped out the cmos battery and put it back in. No
good either.
Has all the ram been fried? The fan on the cpu is still spinning. The cd-rom
ejects. I can't hear the hard drive spinning. I guess I can swap the hard
drive for a different one.
Anything I'm missing? YEP

TV tuner card will not display digital TV
And, unfortunately, it never will. TV tuners cards are almost exclusively an analog connection. You would need to convert the signal to analog using a secondary device, such as any of these:
http://www.google.com/search?q=512mb+xd+card&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#sclient=psy&hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US%3Aofficial&biw=1920&bih=1073&tbs=shop:1&q=digital+converter+box&aq=0&aqi=g5&aql=&oq=&pbx=1&fp=84578a1e35ef3dc7
It will work pretty easily...set your TV tuner card to the appropriate channel as detailed in the converter's manual and you should be fine.
You could also see if your cable provider's box has any analog outputs (yellow red white or screw-on coax).
Why does my gateway computer go into power save
Because it is set default to auto power saver moder after a certain amount of time and you can adjust these settings in the control panel power settings.
Hope this helps ^^. Please dont forget to rate, Thanks
I want to use my mitsibishi tv for my monitor but
Hello
Ok, your graphics needs to have a TV out port(Video out), which will usually be a s-video. With you card you should have received a s-video to RCA converter.
Your TV should also have a video in(Yellow RCA port) or a s-video in.
Now just plug in the wires and set your card in windows(Or other operating system) to extend or duplicate the screen.
This can usually be done by right clicking on desktop and go to you card control panel(Mine is Nvidia control panel) and set the settings. Really hope this can help.
Best regards
I have a gateway GM5442 computer. Lately it has
Usually you get messages like this when there have been temporary power outges and your computer gets shut off abruptly.
I wouldn't worry too much unless the computer acts weird when you start it up.
Connecting Laptop to LCD
the following connections available to connect ur computer to an TV:
S-Video output: If you have video card(external u will have this), you require an s-video cable and you connect s-video out of your computer to the s-video int of our TV.
TV-OUT: if you have video card(external u wil have this) you you require an coxial cable and you have to connect TV-out of your computer to TV-IN of our TV(it is place where cable connection goes from your cable operator)
DVI-D: if you have video card(external u will have this) you require an DVI-D cable you haveto connect DVI-D out of your computer(a white 15-pin port which looks like VGA port) ....
VGA: it is the port on your computer which is only used to connect to your computer but not to your TV or LCD(strictly)
Thanking you,

I have a Gateway LP2417 monitor and there's No sound.Hoe do I fix it,so I can hear the video that is playing?
This monitor may not have built-in speakers. It may have supported Gateway's monitor mounted sound bar. That sound bar connected to the 3.5 mm audio out on a computer and a DIN port on the monitor.
The simplest solution is to connect your source to appropriate speakers. Depending on your audio setup, you could connect the video source to a receiver with HDMI IN and HDMI Out (ARC), computer speakers or an audio extractor. (If you are using an HDMI cable between the Gateway LP2417 and a computer, you may need to reset the audio output to use basic computer speakers (3.5mm jack).) VGA and DVI connections don't support audio so I assume you are using the HDMI port.
I hope this helps.

How to make touch screen on gateway computer upside down and how to put it back?
f you want to use your touch screen on your gateway computer in an upside down orientation, there are a few things you need to do.
First, you need to change the orientation of the screen in the control panel. To do this, go to the control panel and select "Display." Next, click on the "Settings" tab and then click on the "Orientation" drop-down menu. Select "Landscape (flipped)" from the menu and then click on the "Apply" button.
Now that the orientation of the screen has been changed, you need to adjust the position of the touchscreen so that it is in the correct position. To do this, go to the control panel and select "Hardware and Sound." Next, select "Pen and Touch" and then click on the "Calibrate" button.
Follow the on-screen instructions to calibrate the touchscreen. Once you have finished, the touchscreen should be working correctly in the upside down orientation.
I hope this helps!
