Not knowing how old the unit is hampers me a bit. But, if I were in your position and the TV is no longer covered by warranty, I would just get a universal remote that will work with your TV. Most universal remotes will replace your remote and all of the old one's functions. You can also try to get a replacement remote from the TV maker but those can be expensive when compared to universals. This is how I did mine ; first try to view a chanel that is locked. on the tv front panel turn the volume all the way down with the button, not the remote.While pushing the -volume down on the tv press 0 on the remote .That is it .

The closed caption just suddenly appeared on my screen with no buttons pressed. It won't turn off. I no longer have the original remote for this Durabrand 13" DU1301 TV . I was using the Time Warner Cable remote and have a basic cable box attached to the TV. Everything was fine until suddenly with no buttons pushed the closed caption came on. Is there anything sort of buying a new tv to fix this

The fault you describes is due to low signal strength. If tuner of the said TV is faulty, this type of snow interference will occur too. Just check for good firm connection to its antenna terminal. If it is Ok, check the continuity of the cable used with antenna. Check the orientation of yagi antenna if used outside. If all are OK, and nothing help you, just replace its tuner with same type and number. Tuner is a small metal box type component can be seen soldered directly to the main printed circuit board inside. Usullay, its one terminal will come out as antenna IN of the TV, to which you connects the external antenna or cable. You must have a concept of soldering and desoldering to replace it, and must have a knoledge in electronics too. OK.

Direct Code Entry

1. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
2. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
3. Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables. Note: after a valid code entry, the red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red indicator flashes.
4. With your device on, press CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. Note: If some buttons do not operate your device, try one of the other codes for your brand.

NB: Switch OFF and switch ON your TV WITH ITS FRONT PANEL POWER CONTROL SWITCH EACH TIME before trying an other code.
