I would start out blowing out the chuck with high pressure air because you might have some saw dust or other item causing friction that is allowing the chuck to move. Then I would spray a lot of WD-40 down the chuck to float any contaiminents up.

Drill completely stopped working.

Hi,
The only way to tell if you can fix it is to take the drill apart...
Look for two wires melted together...my guess is that they got too hot and melted together inside the drill... separate and insulate and you should be fine...

18v xpr dewalt drill smells

could be 1 of 2 problems, the motor or the switch, I would think more the motor. you can get some idea of what the cost would be by going to dewaltservicenet.com and typing in your model number for the parts listing. But also keep in mind that Dewalt has a MAX service rate that they will rebuild the tool up to the MAX rate for it, that includes batterys (or it used to include them)

Dewalt cordless drill

You have burned out the drill motor, it is shorted, the battery smoked due to a direct short, one thing I don't understand why the thermal limiter didn't trip in battery pack, I would contact manufacturer and try to get hem to buy you a new drill.

If you keep trying to charge it, it might do so. If this pack is still under warranty, get it replaced. If it is on your dollar, you can get the pack rebuilt with new cells for roughly $40 to $50 at: www.primecell.com
I had a Skill drill pack rebuilt with Lithium ion cells that have half again the original charge longevity. Hope this helps!

Thank you for using FixYa. To change the chuck on your cordless drill, open the old chuck jaws to the maximum. Inside the chuck where it attatches to the drill body, there is a Philips headed bolt. Unscrew the bolt in a CLOCKWISE direction. Reverse this procedure to fit the new chuck.

Hope this helps

You might need to dismantle it and look at the switch. Or the Magnito might need to be cleaned or the drill might need new brushes. Or i have just blown mine out with an air gun. and it worked.
Try these things
Good luck!
Please leave me a good comment on here for me.

Is there someone (a professional) who will accept

You can do it your self stay away from the cordless drills get a carbide drill bit and a tube fill it with some water so it covers the peice of porcelain you want the hole in. Ihave know idia what a 2 or 3 tiered serving piece is. But if its made out of porcelain but if you have a high speed drill and bit and you can keep the peice cool you can drill perfect holes in it. It may take some time if the hole is 1/2 inch or more depending on how thick the meteral is put a peice of wood under the peice so you don't drill through the bottom of the tube. But small holes 1/4of an inch are much quicker to do. I dought you can find anyone else to do this for you And it sounds vary artsy but this how its done with tile and you can drill perfect holes in porcelain just go slow and steady and keep it under water at all times. good luck
