How do you change a
position the drill to speed one & drill mode.u need a allen key then clamp it the chuck jaw close & tight. hit the allen key with hammer counter clockwise until its loosen. may have to do it any several times.
Removal of chuck
this type of drill don't have any chuck screw in the center of the chuck.alos u need special jig to remove the chuck
Clutch
Get a torx bit, either 10 0r 15 & slowly undo screws about one third. There should be 4 of them. When screws are loose they will take pressure off selector & you should be able to free it up.

if the battery are less than a yr old should be a warranty
if drill DC920 or DC925 they are on recall for switch. may be co'z the battery to die. have them check at ur nearest service center.

u need allen key that fit to the chuck. insert the short end to the chuck. tighten the chuck if u can. hold the drill at the edge of the table & smack the allen key counter clockwise. do it again if needed. but before u do it set the speed to #1 position & drill mode.thanx good luck

yeah you have a bad chuck. there is a screw inside the receiver of the chuck if you remove this screw the chuck will come off. Reverse this procedure to re install the new chuck.
Drill chuck swap
1. Turn the screw clockwise to take it out.
2. Then you needs 3/8 allen key & insert the short side of the allen key & tighten the chuck.
3. hold the drill at the edge of the table & wack the allen key
counter clockwise & do it again as needed.
4. dewalt keyless chuck will fit but you might add a washer to insure the chuck is not rubbing the clutch collar.
5. putting it back together the other way.

You'll need to do it yourself-dis-assemble the battery and check each cell individually to determine the bad ones. You can purchase replacement cells very inexpensive.
Transmission problem
front of the trans had a pin the spring is inside. if theres no tension maybe missing spring or the large out crown gear are worn. you can get the trans in assy,

The problem could be the brushes and if so it is be quit easy to replace them by pulling the drill apart and slipping the old ones out of there sleeves on the armature and slipping the new ones back in there place . you can buy these brushes at any good tool shop . all you will need is the model number of the drill which you can locate on the side case of your drill . hope this helps.

the charger its self are expensive.better to purchase new unit for a couple dollars more & u have 2 spare battery & charger
