Hi,do you hear any strange noises? If you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on it could be the board that powers the lamp it's called the ballast.It's major symptoms are clicking,electrical sounds,shuts off and on and get the lamp indicator.But if you don't hear any strange noises,tv is around 6000 hrs,2-4 yrs,It's major symptoms are clicking,electrical sounds,shuts off and on and get the lamp indicator, it could be time to replace the lamp.

Have you selected Optical output from the audio setup screen of the TV? That needs to be selected to transfer TV audio to the optical out of the TV.

There is no color wheel. This is an SXRD TV. If you have 389 at the ballast, then your ballast is bad. 5 flashes is a bad lamp driver. No TTL signal return to the mainboard. Put a new ballast in. Do not try and measure ballast output without good high voltage gear. The startup pulse is close to 20,000 volts.

Sony extended Optical Block until 06/302010. Will re-imburse your if you replaced the optical block out of your own pocket

Aspart of the Sony commitment to quality, Sony is announcing that it isextending the limited warranty (parts and labor), in the United States,on the optical block of the above-referenced 2006 model SXRDtelevisions until June 30, 2010, regardless of purchase date. For anycustomer who requires repair of the optical block on one of theaffected models, Sony will cover the cost of the optical block repair(parts and labor) at no charge through June 30, 2010. This extendedwarranty does not apply to the replaceable projection lamp or the otherparts that may be used in the televisions.


Sony is also announcing that for any owner of these modeltelevisions who paid out-of-pocket expenses on or before November 30,2008 for an estimate or repair service to replace the optical block,Sony will reimburse the customer by mail for the cost of the opticalblock and the labor expense to replace it, subject to certainconditions. To receive reimbursement, please follow completely thedirections on the claim form for reimbursement; all claims must be postmarked by January 31, 2009. See the claim form for complete terms and conditions.

All other terms of the Sony limited warranty continue to apply. Sonyutilizes a network of hundreds of qualified independent third-partyservicers to perform in-home television warranty service. Sony, throughits authorized servicer network, will endeavor to repair your setwithin 30 days of your first contact. Look for a small switch that is pressed when the door is insert/closed. Close the circuit and it should work.

Sony Lamp issueI see this so much that I am going to compose and save this answer:3 blinks (it is in the owner manual) is "Lamp door not properlyclosed".What is really wrong is if you remove the door and look edgewise it will likely be warped from the heat from the lamp.1. On most of these but not all SONY knows of this and offers on many models to repair or replace the set for free---somemodels the heat also warps the area thelamp inserts in.2. If you look at the back of the door there is a small plastic peg--it whendoor is installed engages a lever (small and designed to prevent the set frombeing used if door is open).3. The way to prove if door is the problem is to with something not metalengage and hold the lever where the peg goes (you will have door off and alsothe large front plate giving access to lamp) and turning set on.IF SET COMES ON AND WORKS DO NOT LOOK AT THE LIGHT FROM THE LAMP as it candamage your vision.DO NOT OPERATE SET FOR A PROLONGED TIME WITH DOOR REMOVED OR THE FRONT PLATE(that covers access to lamp) attached as the heat with door removed can damagethe outer plate.4. These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. 3 times red light blinking indicates that Lamp Cover has not been fixed in its location properly after lamp replacement.
Please make sure lamp cover (its first thing that was removed to replace lamp) is installed securely.

bad power supply. Contact SONY for advice. They will pay for the repair and service call if it is still under warranty

please re setup it ! or hit fingers on the speakers if not worked then go to the sony searvice centre and check it there is a loose connections !

You need a new bulb.
