I replaced the needle on

Hi,

Re-attaching the elastic band (the drive belt) is relatively simple but can be a little awkward to do. Please follow these instructions to reattach the drive belt - I have included some drawings to assist you.

1. Turn the metal platter upside down. Loop the drive belt around the circular ridge just inside of the rectanglar holes. Make sure the belt isn't twisted.

2. Make sure the drive belt is roughly centred on the circular ridge. If it's too close to the bottom, it may slip off when you run the turntable:

3. Insert a small piece of ribbon or string behind the belt, next to one of the rectangular holes in the platter.

4. Put the platter back on the turntable and rotate the platter until the

These tables are no longer serviced. You can buy a second for a parts unit, or check Ebay in case someone is parting out an old one.

Sony PS-LX250H Turntable Problem

If Sony does not have it available, you won't be able to find one. You can go generic, but you have to worry about size and fit.

I have the exact same problem for the same model. Only spins at 45 and I sometimes have to kick-start it. I tried de-activating the switch (so that it's not making a connection) and therefore in the 33 position but that does not help.

How do I manually adjust

Without technical equipment it would be near impossible to get the speed down to the level of a CD. A lot depends on the belt, how much it has been used, for example a new belt might help! The motor of the deck could have a speed setting on it, but even so it would be on the bottom of the deck and you would have to adjust while you were under the turntable. Like being under a car!
Some have speed presets, again under the deck, often covered with a label. Others will have them on the PC board of the deck's power supply section.
On the whole that's one of the flaws with records and decks, they are not as good as CD's.

My phono jacks are not making the connection when

You cut them off and strip back the wire. Then solder new plugs on. The Earth part of the wire goes to the outer metal body of the plug and the channel wire goes to the main part.

Turntable will not rotate. Belt is good. Motor

Determine if it is a mains powered motor or a 9 - 12 volt type (it should say on it). If it is a 9-12 volt type you can disconect the wires and apply a 9 volt battery to it. If it doesn't turn it with that it's gone!

Hooked up Sony' s PS-LX25OH

First check that the amp is working by putting your finger on the imputs at the back. You should get a buzz on each channel. Or disconect the wires to the cartridge, with the turntable connected to the amp and the amp on, touch the loose wires (you won't get a shock). You should hear the buzz on both channels with two of the wires (left & right). If you don't the pre-amp for the cartridge in the amp has failed. Will be a single IC that's gone, found by following the wires back from the deck imputs inside the amp.
If it buzzers then the cartridge has gone.

The stylus point would be hard to judge with the naked eye. Plus what you describe is the symptom of a stylus that has gone. The only other explantion would be to have too weight applied. Reduce the pressure by adjusting the weight at the end of the arm. If that doesn't make the stylus play ball, replace it.

The turntable motor runs but

most platters are secured with a c clip in the middle --gently prying it off should allow the platter to be removed--than a little dexterity is required to reattach the belt to the pulley and around the bottom of the platter--if the belt is broken or stretched you can pursue a replacement at mcm electronics .com

How do I put my belt back on the turntable?

Lift felt on platter and and lift the platter section off the unit by putting your thumb and forefinger through the two large holes and pull upwards. There should not be any special routing for the belt and should go directly onto the spindle motor to your platter. Place the belt around the inside rim of the platter while it is still off the unit. Now replace the platter and move the platter around until you see the spindle motor through one of the holes. Use some tweezers to manouvre the belt onto the spindle motor. On some units you will have to lay the belt out inside the unit, replace the platter and manouvre the belt onto the platter. Hope this helps
