Sony PS-LX250H Turntable - Page 8 Questions & Answers
My turntable starts in the middle of the record
you need a flat key that slots in where the rubber grommit is on the turntable platform. Remove the rubber stopper, use a flat head screwdriver into the slot inside the hole, out an old record on the turntable, and try the play button to see where the arm now lands ( dont forget to put the stylus protector on to prevent needle damage! ) and then keep making small adjustments till the arm starts at the beginning of the record. I actually have an original sony flat key should you want it? but to be honest a long shaft screwdriver is perfectly adequate for the task? email me at
[email protected] if you want the key though?

if you look at the main gear there are 2 metal pieces (one on top of the other )if you add a little more grease between the two (give it a little more friction) that has fixed the problem for me

Is it a belt drive?
If it is then unplug it take the rubber mat off use the holes in the platter to lift it off, then you'll see the belt lieing around somewhere put it back round the edge of the platter then the motor wheele. i'll finish this when u tell me wether or not it's a belt drive.
The belt fell of the gears on my turntable.
Hi dont know the model but normally like so:
Take the platter of the turntable, it should just lift of, but there could be a circlip in the middle that needs to come off first. Just lift the mat first.
Place the belt back onto the platter first, should see where it goes, then put the platter back on. There are holes in the paltter which you can then grab the belt and pull it over the motor spindle.
Hope that helps
Belt has come off
Take the metal platter off the center post. Flip the metal platter over & put the belt around the inner circle on the underside of the metal platter. Then put the metal platter (right side up) on the center post. Turn it until you can see the motor post (upper left corner) through the big opening in the metal platter. Pull the belt out from the platter to string it around the motor post, making sure it's seated in the groove.
Put a brand new drive belt on my sony PS-LX250H and the sound
If the belt is installed correctly (around the center ring on the underside of the metal platter & around the motor post), try adjusting the SW screw on the underside of the unit that apparently fine-tune adjusts speed. It fixed the speed on my turntable - more info/instructions on it are posted under Mocamom1's question & solutions regarding PS-LX250H speed adjustment.
My Sony PS-LX250H is all of the sudden playing too slow with a 33
Not sure what made it happen all of a sudden, but you might want to check out Mocamom1 's question related to PS-LX250H speed & the attached solutions. You may just need to adjust the SW screw on the underside of the unit (worked for mine that was playing everything at 35 1/4!)

Did the problem exist on its own uncorrelated to anything you may have done?
Does it return and cycle itself off or is it just rebounding aimlessly?
Unfortunately, there are no user adjustments for tracking, antiskate, end-of-play-return, etc. The only recommendation from the manual is to make sure the turntable is level and the records are clean and unscratched.

Have you checked the belt? If it does not rotate, or is gets stuck more than likely the belt is either slipping, or is broken.
Loud hum from turntable when phono switch is depressed.
Hi,
Please check / replace RCA audio cable that you hooked between Turntable and Amplifier. Usually when ground connection breaks then this hummmm sound comes. There is another possibility when stylus connection is break.
Let me know model and brand of turntable to assist you more in this noisy sound issue.

Sony PS-LX300USB Turntable, one channel not working
Have you tried swopping over the output leads from the turntable to the amp (normally one red and one white phono plug) so they are in each others socket? If you do this and you still get no sound from the right channel it is almost certain to be a faulty amp,or speaker.
If you swop and get no sound from the LEFT channel it is could be either a faulty lead or cartridge.

I have a Sony SDLX250H connected to my computer right now, using an adapter for RCA to 3.5mm, into the line in jack. You could do the same thing, and probably use Audacity to do some recording. Wish you the best!
SONY PS LX300H turntable works only one channel at a time
This sounds suspiciously like the wiring of the cartridge is wrong or something is shorted together. The cause should be visible.
Taking special care to NOT touch the stylus itself in this operation:
Turn the locking collar and remove the cartridge assembly in its shell from the tonearm.
Flip the assembly over and examine the four wires under a magnifying glass for disconnections, kinks, crimps, or metal-to-metal contact between any of them. They should each attach to a pin exiting straight out from the cartridge.
The wires are also color coded as are the terminals. If they're wrong you could have various sonic malfunctions.
Correcting miswires is delicate and I would recommend taking the turntable and stylus to a pro for that part.
Needle replacement...missing part?
To replace the stylus (N-6516 from your Sony dealer)
1.Turn off the amplifier
2. Protect the stylus with the stylus cover (it flips down 90 degrees)
3. Grasp the stylus holder (exposed when cover was flipped down) and pull it away from the cartridge body
4. Insert the stylus by pushing it in to the cartridge receptacle. Flip the stylus protector up.
